Sounds like a big headache to me!
Wouldn't it be easier to retain existing captains?

First of all, I don't work for Rex but I know a lot of people who do. It seems to me the overiding issue is the way pilots feel they are treated.
I think pilots crave respect more than they crave money.
But as I say, I don't work there, I don't know how much Rex pilots earn etc.

What would Rex have to do to keep hold a their Captains??. For most (including me) a little bit more money, a fair bit more respect and alot less $hit would have gone a long way. The respect thing was raised as an issue to the CP mid last year and nothing has been done. Infact, nothing raised at that meeting has bought about any changes.

Anyway, as I've said before, while there are people like the incompetent NH at the top of check and training (just cause he has a neat desk and can iron his shirt well it does not meen he is good for the job) and check and trainers more interested in their own pathetic careers than actually doing a good job and knowing how to do it properly (Don't have to look past AD for these examples), then why would anyone bother to stay.

Flying a Saab...it just ain't that hard...so why make it hard??

its not that hard even with all the bs in the fcom and ppm just say 'checked' and you will be right 99% of the time

i dont think it is so much ch and nh but a certain FOI rb who is the instigator behind all the crap that we have to deal with (or had too). Its easy to sit in the sim with the manuals in front of you going 'well you missed this and that etc', ok fair enough mr rb you jump in and fly and lets see what you miss shall we? oh i forgot your not a pilot!

interested to hear from you krusty as you seem to know the in and outs of rex! (I mean that in a nice way but could possibly be taken wrongly)

ok rant off

hmmmm... maybe I should rephrase the question to be more in line with current management thinking........

" how can we retain current captains WITHOUT paying more money, and WITHOUT giving them more respect? "

can I rephrase in a current CAPTAIN'S line of thinking?.....

"WHY should I work extra hours when the company do NOT respect the job I do? "
WHY should I come in to work on a day off with my family, for less money per hour than I currently get for a NORMAL ROSTERed DAY OF WORK?"
"WHY should I extend my already long day by another 3-4 hours for NO MORE MONEY?".
WHY SHOULD I WORK HARDER, FOR LESS MONEY?"
"WHY SHOULD I STAY? WHEN I CAN BE PAID MORE $$$$ TO FLY A BETTER AIRCRAFT OVER the same routes, with a company which respect me?
WHY SHOULD I STAY WHEN I NOW EARN LESS THAN I DID 8 YEARS AGO, DOING THE SAME JOB, IN THE SAME AIRCRAFT, ON THE SAME ROUTES WITH ESSENTIALLY THE SAME COMPANY?

What incentive is there to stay?????

Money not as good.
lifestyle not as good.
people leave faster than a hooker when you tell them you are broke.
equipment not been updated.
sim checks more fearsome than ever.
uniforms worse than ever(and I mean EVER!!!!!!)
ALL!!!! sick leave queried~!
allowances not paid in accordance with EBA.
Regular propaganda leaflet punctuating sick leave like it is a unionised action.
NO communication from "LORD ST"

to name just a few....

WHY WOULD YOU STAY?
AND STILL!!!!!current management do NOT give a rats a#se WHY you are leaving?

Dont get me wrong i agree with you.

depending on the month you order your uniform and which supplier it comes from it actually matches sometimes.

Gidday LM82.

I've been banging on about REX (and other things) for a while now. Sometimes people agree with me, sometimes they don't.

I'd like to set the record straight though. Unless the REX FOI has changed (those are not the initials of the man I know) this bloke is a pilot, and a damn good one. His black and white style does not sit easily with some, but I don't think that's about to change. Years ago when I flew with him, I found him to be the most knowledgable, integrity bound, and humerous chap I have ever known. Some that have met him may find that last one a bit hard to swallow, but he definitely wears 2 hats. It's not often he gets a good wrap, just thought I'd have a go!

Obviously feel free to disagree with me. No offence taken!

Gidday apache.

Good to see you're still in there fighting mate!

G'day Krusty:-)

Tell me something (if you can seeing as you have a fair amonut of inside info with REX )am curious but was kendells in anyway like the Co we see now (REX) re terms & conditions? Did the day REX started ops see a slide downwards re low moral, low wages etc etc or has it evolved to be what it is today? Or did such conditions exist b4 they started up as REX? I know from many years ago when I was in a diff life around planes (inc Kendells) but not flying commercially Kendells was damn hard to get into & if you did get in you pretty ,much went on to Ansett some time down the track. Seems these days the whole shooting match is just a sess pool (chk spelling) with (from what I read here) a very poorly run (management wise) Co that's not that well looked upon by pilots in general.
Lots of bashing goes on re REX here but again simply put did the current culture exist b4 hand? As far as I can tell it didn't but I wasn't at that level at the time.

Smile

This thread is going round in circles, and has therefore run its course. There are numerous other threads on terms, conditions etc running in this forum.
