TAA Cessna 180's in PNG
MFU at Wapenamanda PNG
Gee, you guy's are sure giving me an education in PNG.
This picture is taken at Wapenamanda, Enga Province at a MAF Conference, where all their local aircraft fleet attended. There is a lot of detail in this picture when zoomed in & variety of aircraft. Facinating.
This photo was taken by MAF pilot Alan Roberts who flew MFU between March-Sept 1976.

MFU at Port Moresby
MFU parked at Port Moresby (?).
This colour scheme was applied from 8 August 1984, according to a log book entry. Does anyone have a photo of her when operating with Bensbach Laodge ?

Grandpa Aerotart
Yes Moresby - parked next to one of the Obscene Airways fleet - P2-COC/TIT and BUM.
It was the same colour scheme when Brian had it...I wouldn't be surprised if that pic was taken when Brian owned MFU.

Would you or anyone know where to get in touch with them ref their era with MFU. You could send any info to [email protected]

MFU at Bunapas
Ron Kingsley, one of the MAF pilot's in PNG sent me this picture of MFU with it's load of Sak Sak and other at Bunapas, a strip next to the Ramu River in the Madang Province. Notice the VH rego, so this would mean that the 185 was fairly new at this stage, some where after 1972.

MFU update
MFU is now standing up on it's legs again. Will have some new pictures soon. I incorporated the Pplonk beef up kit as well.
Interior fuselage is all complete and back in primer and exterior skins all repaired.
Large box of components arrived recently from USA, I now have most items to get started. Cowls are available to pick up this month also.
Probably see a lot done in 2012, incl wings will be in a jig early in year.
Still getting contact with some of the boy's who flew her in PNG with MAF.

More pictures of MFU in PNG approx 1985.
Have been in touch with the Macarthur family. They obtained some pictures of MFU from one of MFU's pilot's Macarthur Job (not related). These pictures cover the period when the 185 changed hands from MAF to Brian Bromley's Bensbach Lodge (Tonga Trading).
MFU today
Restoration has progressed, as at end of October 2011 she is standing back on her undercarriage for first time since 1989. I now have all the major components to complete the airframe with the arrival of a set of cowls last week. The wings are being sent away in December for rebuild at Scone. After that, it is big ticket items like systems/engine/prop/interior & avionics.

MFU enhancements
Apart from a planned upgrade of avionics and instrument panels, the Pplonk undercarriage beef up has been installed, as well as grab handles for rear fuselage.
