King Air online ? whats the hours they want for that ? anyone got any contact info?
You will need to spend atleast 2 years with the company flying twins and singles....get treated like crap and then you "might" be lucky enough to fly the king air, all 20hrs a month... but you will have to fight for those hours over a few other people...

Dont bother with them

Just as a matter of interest who operates the Caravans out of Broome, including the float version
Last time I was up there Broome Aviation had the fixed gears, Kimberley extreme and horiazontal waterfalls adventures... they were looking for 'Van drivers but you needed a float endo..

When I was working for King Leo's (albeit about 6 years ago now) they only had singles. I'm pretty sure that hasn't changed.
Dont think old mate at KLA has changed...but to the new guy if you want hours the King Leo's pilots are the most worked on the field, from what im told. Hours a slow at Broome Av and BAS...the 'Leo's guys max out the hours and at casual rates you do alot better than the rest of the other drivers in Broome...even the twin drivers at other companies.

So if you want fast hours in your logbook and easy coin, go for King Leo's...Get your 1000hrs and then leave...

Im not too sure if Clark has any places available, I hear there is an unofficial waiting list as well....Like Leo's plenty of hours and you do get looked after by the boss...just need to live in Newman...

Most northern operators would have hired everyone they need for the season...soon they will start to put off the younger houred guys/girls and keep the more experienced drivers on during the wet.

But it doesnt hurt to call up the operators and ask a few questions. if they are rude to you then screw them and move on (with reference to one particular company...)

I'd have to agree. In 2001/2002 I managed to get just over 1000 hrs in under 18 months. The flying was fantastic. I covered most of the Kimberley in that time and the scenery is gorgeous.

Do you believe this info to be current? There have been ownership/CP changes of late.

Arnellis,

Fly to Darwin - Hire a car for 2 weeks and drive across the top handing in resumes and shaking hands as you go. Try to meet as many operators as you can before taking a job. Its a pilots market and there are some good jobs and some good locations and not that many pilots willing to do the door to door knocking these days.

You will have to choose between a good career move and a good lifestyle move. Broome for lifestyle and less nice places such as Headland or the Crack for career.

One more thing- smell the roses take in the sights take some photos and dont worry the job will come.
