REX BNE Base?
G'day All (particulary those in QLD),
Just got off the phone from my father, he said that he caught the end of a radio broadcast regarding REX and their moving into Queensland. He couldn't tell me any more than that
Has anyone heard anything in regards to the REX Brisbane operation? So far from REX's website, all I can tell is that the planned opening is in September.. Though, I would've thought that things may've ramped up a little seeing it's only 5 weeks away.
Anyone in the Brisbane area noticed any movement around the check-in/REX terminal area?
If I were to get a BN basing, it'd be one of the key ingredients to me becoming a happy and long term employee

Back in the days when Rex had enough pilots to fly planes (12 months ago) they did operate Brisbane-Maryborough several times a day. Was interesting to say the least, although aircrew were based in BN, the aircraft would fly SY-LSY-BN which really made things interesting.
Pilots left and found greener pastures, Rex had no option but to cease operations in QLD and plan to recommence sometime in the future. Same happened for Cooma too, very profitable route (full planes) but no one around to fly them.

So has anything changed since then?
Yeah, it's gotten worse. I guess they are anticipating pilot numbers to rise with these fast track CPL courses and their cadet thing.....will be very interesting to watch.
