Annunciator panel
Scenario:
Garmin 530 is to the right of centre on a cessna instrument panel. G106 CDI is just to the right of the 6 pack.
Question:
For the purposes of IFR approval, can the G106 CDI serve as an annunciator panel or do I have to use a stand alone MD41 or similar?
I am only assuming the annunciator panel is purely to tell you wether the CDI is locked onto either the GPS or the VOR.
In short, I don't understand this business of annuciator panels that keeps getting mentioned to me, and i don't know where the rules are about this (CAO's?). Apparantly there is something about the angle of the GPS in relation to the pilot's field of vision?
Can anyone shed some light on this matter?

In a word - NO !
I was told I had to have an annunciator panel for the G430 in the Bo, and I am now being told that I have to replace it with a new annunciator panel for the TSO145/146a upgrade - but I also fly a G430 equipped IFR C210 that does not have an annunciator panel, which I am assured is legal.
Beats me!

Hold the phone - I may be able to answer my own question. According to this document, specifically section 10.1.3 & .4, you should only need one if the centre of the GPS is further than 350mm from the centre of the AH.
Does this make any sense in regard to the Bo's configuration, Dr?

Warbo,
I have a GNS530W installed in a C172 without a remote annunciator as the distance between AH centreline and the edge of the screen is less than the max distance as described in your CASA document. It is CASA approved for IFR.
Most Beech panels have the stack further to the right, which is probabaly why the Doc needed one in the FTDK.
cheers,
Nivo

Forky, Can you do your Internet Banking on the way home from a charter?
Why? Can't everybody?
Dr

PS: Of course I only do such things when buried in IMC - otherwise I would be on constant lookout!
