Hmm, seems that one Ned Kelly is still alive and well, working as an Airport Manager!

Hummmm... not far off BK rates!

Let's have a real laugh and get the SY prices.. Saw a Cirrus parked in there the other day and just could not help wondering.

Brisbane charges

Unless you specifically need the aircraft to be at YBBN, you'd be better off going to Redcliffe or Caboolture (no landing charges at either) and hiring a limo.

I can tell you for an absolute fact the taxi fare from YRED to YBBN is over $50 each way...to the city is more like $65-70....plus the time wasted at whatever that is worth to you.

I think that puts those thieving charges in some perspective.

Thrifty will deliver a reasonable (Falcon XR6) rental car to YBAF for $35/day - it can be left with Hempel's when you leave.

But you'll pay $60 to park it in the city for the day....

Check your time of arrival. YBBN has two peak hour periods that will cost you three times that much. Times and costs will follow.

last time I checked to full stop at YSSY, park for a night then take off the next day was in the region of $200+. I may have miscalculated though, you need to ring a number in the ERSA to get the current rates.

Cap'n Arrr,

I feel those pirates have done your name a dishonor! they are the ones who engage theft on the high seas, staggering around with one wooden leg and a bird (oh-err) on their shoulder!

Send in good guys and hang the lot of them.

(Edited 'cos there are no good guys)

Arrr,

But you should see what the bird has to pay to be there!

I would have thought $66 to land at a capital airport like YBBN would be below average.

YMEN charge a $30 landing fee plus another $10 tower fee. I've been told that YSSY was in the order of $300, but I've never enquired about it myself.

Whats YMML worth for a full stop?

Long term car parking at YBBN starts at $23 for the first day. If you can get the wings off the Bo it could be an option.

At YSSY we pay $55 per movement for <5700kg aircraft.
So thats $110 for a takeoff and landing.

I think it's something like $66 each time the aircraft is spotted by the roaming Nazi for parking on the apron. They do the rounds at 0600,1200,1800 (from memory). All adds up pretty quick.

Then if you don't have a swipe card that works on the pedestrian gate, you can add another couple hundred for pax handling.

Quite plainly the government and I'd dare say large parts of the industry simply DO NOT WANT GA to play any meaningful role in the transport system.

Fancy needing or wanting to fly somewhere in one's own aircraft?

One could argue that in larger cities it's just too bad, but what about those places with only one airport? Canberra is a classic example. GA almost eradicated there......

Oh b*gger! I only asked "What's the landing charge"! It never occurred to me to ask about a Take-off charge!

Mind you she did say "that's inclusive of GST" but not "that includes a free TO"!

l generally always go to Brisbane if I have to do stuff on the northside. Its really close to the Brisbane Entertainment centre, has 24 hour Avgas (that comes to you, rather than another hot start at a card bowser), 24 hour car hire, and great security with protective service driving round all the time. Has a neat little GA terminal with toilet and cold water just 20-50 metres from where you tie the aircraft down. Compared to a taxi fare and the stuffing around to find a park (in the soft grass) at Archerfield or Redcliffe, it's well worth the extra cost.

Huh?.... What roundabout? Don't you just drive straight across them like everyone else in Brisbane that owns a 4WD?

Jaba,

Don't use the roundabout. Use Lomandra Drive. It's faster even if you want to go to Toombul or the northside, regrettably so.
