Pilots License

I 'm student pilot with a few hours of flying experience.

I am just wondering when you get your privates pilots license, does it come in the form in a card - Like a driving license? I know its unimportant but I was just wondering

No mate. Just a little green book with plastic inserts with all your info in it. Not even a photo.

I haven't got a pilot's license, but I have a pilot's licence. Is that what you mean?

It's a computer printout which you tear up into 4 quarters per page. You then pay $30 for a wallet to place these bits of paper in. If you get ratings later on for your licence, then you pay $25 for a new print out of your licence. Ridiculous. If you want to impress chicks, there are cheaper ways to do it.

training wheels is NOT advocating wearing epaulettes to the bars, either!

Do they really make you pay for a licence folder these days? I guess im not surprised... Ive got two of the green CASA ones - I know one came in the mail with my private licence - not sure where the second one is from.

Still, its nice to know ive got a spare - for when the first one gets weathered beyond use, the glue comes unstuck, and the toner from the licence pages transfers to the inside of the plastic sleeves.... oh, wait, thats already happened. I think I'll keep the second one as a spare, for when I get that jet job....

Hahah... as I scrolled down the page I knew that was coming. Just use your Airservices Phoneaway card... it's close enough.

Does anyone actually ever use those quaint old phoneaway cards? I do not believe in paying for a weather brief, or to submit a flight plan, when its actually easier to do it for free.

Unfortunately you do need to use the phone cards, when you overnight in DirtyHole South, where there is no pc, internet, fax, and ops are too busy to help.

tio540,

It's quire ironic isn't it? Any place where you're likely to need the PhoneAway card is unlikely to have any girls anyway... it's Catch 22!

No, because if you use a phoneaway card, that implies you have access to a telephone. In which case you call the Brisbane Briefing Office (same people the phoneaway system connects to), on 07 3866 3517

If you call from a mobile, they still charge you for making the 1-800 call, which out of necessity takes about five times longer than calling direct, and you still have to bugger around with the phoneaway cards.

And before Airservices send the revenue-raising dog squad after me, that phone number's in the ERSA.

"CB" I guess at 18 yrs of age (am envious trust me !) yr hormones are kicking in big time, Girls & flying don't mix. Never should the two be mentioned in the same sentence
There are batter ways to impress the 'chicks' (as others have mentioned here)as I believe you might call 'em. Start by never mentioning yr a pilot then you might have a chance!. If anyone of 'em (chicks) ever read what's written amongst these pages ref to wages T&C's & what we have to endure just to get a poorly paid job there wouldn't be a 'chick' within a million miles that's dumb enough to touch us ! All said with tongue in cheek of course, but then again !

As far as what you get when your recognized as a pilot !...........heartache forever, but there's something about it that no 18 yr old girl will ever come close to reproducing...............shhheeeeez I am old aren't I ?

It's not the 'licence' paper or otherwise that's important it's the achievment, that no one can take away from you, not even yr second or third wife !.

Go forth & multilpy, we need more pilots!

I would love to become a Pilot, Its a dream, I am guessing like many people on this forum

Money is the big issue atm lol, University Next year and I have other Major problems like my Physics isn't top notch nor my Maths

I guess that wouldn't as much if I was just going to be an Instructor but would defiantely be a problem if I want the job of Commercial Pilot *Dreams*

Yes 'namps' never a truer word said. I've heard it all too. Even flying a LR35 I was asked whther I wanted to fly the 'big planes' some day like commercial pilots !!!!(what an end up bitter & twisted like them?)..........had to laugh, had I have been younger I would have thought, fool...........but now I just laugh it off thinking people who need to know/understand already do

'Commercial' just means you can earn money from yr activities. Doesn't make you any different to a pvt pilot who has flown with extensive experience.
