Amateur research can be dangerous

All voluntary answer surveys are complete nonsense. No conclusion may be drawn, no percentages deducted. Quantitative surveys must use a legitimate, random sample with numbers of respondents mathematically calculated to give the desired probability - usually +- 3% is desired. There are all sorts of rules regarding the achievement of the random sample - selection of sample, repeat attempts to contact respondent, etc.

What Airservices has done is just amateur hour and can only lead to incorrect conclusions. They will cherry pick the results they want and put percentages against them.

Just like the interactive newspaper surveys!!! 64% of people think such and such is doing the wrong/right thing. Total crap!

Imagine the hours they spent sitting around coming up with the leading questions. At the best of times you can make surveys produce the results you want simply by the wording and positioning of the question/s at worst you get a result that is the exact opposite of reality.

As an addendum to Telephonenumber's post, there is nothing in the survey to identify what is functioning well in any of the survey areas. All the questions are aimed at identifying problems. There's nothing that surveys interactions. Nothing about bettering areas that are functioning well already, or even identifying them. By implementing changes to fix an area identified as needing improvement, the survey meisters could quite legitimately tromp all over an area performing well without even knowing it.

GA Survey

Lowdown

Why don't you just do the survey. It may stop you complaining for a while. Who knows, something good may come out of it.

'Tis a survey loaded with loaded questions and probably designed to give answers that support some pre-conceived notion they are trying to push. Most likely also trying to back-up claims that they consult with industry.

What about "Have you used flight following?"

Does that include requesting it and being told its unavailable due workload? Does that fall under the definition of "using it."
