Airservices Australia GA Survey

Fellow Flyer,

Airservices Australia is currently conducting an on-line survey of its General Aviation ‘customers’ in order to provide better service in flight planning, en route support, as well as terminal area and Tower clearances. Individual responses to the survey are confidential and there is a prize on offer. The link below will take you to more information and to the survey.

Please take the few minutes required to complete the survey.

Many thanks,

Philthy :ok:

Okay, who's child in Grade 5 is responsible for writing this crap? It looks like AsA couldn't front the money for a professionally researched and written survey, so what chance does anyone give that:
a) anything meaningful will be determined, and;
b) they'll have the resources to make changes?

Do I hear, "None"?

I just did my bit to keep this post towards the top.

VH-XXX 31st Jan 2008 13:43

I just completed it. There's lots of questions there on a large range of topics. Personally I think it could be of great value to them if people fill it out correctly.

Lodown 31st Jan 2008 20:18

Q. 19. I lodge flight plan details on Flightwatch frequencies.

Q. 20. Are you aware that inflight information is available on Flightwatch frequencies?

Q. 22. Do you find NOTAMs complex or confusing?

Q. 24. I lodge SARTIMES with Airservices Australia.

A little confusion between "you" and "I" pretty much says it all.

Capt Wally 31st Jan 2008 20:57

All done, although it's very generic but I guess there's no other way of presenting such questions without making it more long winded that it appears to be anyway.
Any survey that might bring in the slightest attention to deficiencies has got to be of some benefit.

Prize.............ELB..............hmmmmmmm hope we have the resources to help the poor bugg...a who might win it & be unlucky enough to have to use it!!!
Okay Phil, what's next?:)

No confusion there mate. They're just statements and questions for you to comment on. It's not meant to be novel that reads correctly from one question to the next.

Return questions

Can anyone create a questionaire for ASA senior management? These questions are lifted from the survey, just need some more accurate answer options.

Question 1:I lodge flight plan details on Flightwatch frequencies.
a) Never, because you shut it down.
b) Never, because you shut it down.
c) Never, because you shut it down.

Question 2: Are you aware that inflight information is available on Flightwatch frequencies?
a) Yes, but I can't access them because you shut it down.
b) Yes, but I can't access them because you shut it down.
c) Yes, but I can't access them because you shut it down.

Question 3: If 'Yes', how often would you use this facility?
a) Never, because you shut it down.
b) Never, because you shut it down.
c) Never, because you shut it down.

Left hand, meet right hand - you may like to discuss things from time to time.

UTR

You must work for ASA.......and read my responses!!!:D

J

PS you should do the CASA drug survey, several questions like when was the last time you......big long list.......I never touch any of the things, so how do you answer the question! Go try it and see for yourself!

AerocatS2A 1st Feb 2008 03:50

UTR, funny, I talk to FLightwatch all the time. Yes I know the VHF frequencies are gone or going but for those who have an HF radio, Flightwatch are still available and I use them everyday and said so in the survey.

UnderneathTheRadar 1st Feb 2008 03:58

I agree with the comments that it wasn't well written. For example

How often do you fly?
- weekly?
- less than once a month?
- less than once every three months?

What if I fly every 2 weeks?

Aerocat, I agree, it is still sort of there but this is a GA survey and a fairly small % of GA has HF or would bother to use it.

What I didn't tell them was that I don't use a phone away card for calling the briefing office. Jepps have the international access number (no card required) and you can simply get them to give a briefing or fax what you're after - I don't know but suspect they don't even know where you're calling from......

ForkTailedDrKiller 1st Feb 2008 05:15

Done my bit - filled it out!

1) Don't talk to the Briefing Office cause I don't know how to anymore. Don't know where to buy a phone card. Don't think I should have to pay to get a briefing anyway.

2) Never talk to Flightwatch cause I don't have HF and they never answer on VHF (before they got shut down anyway).

3) Need VHF to ground level at every licenced aerodrome in Oz. The technology is available - just do it.

4) I WAN"T WAAS - just do it!

Yup I gave em a serve on FW/WAAS and SID plates.

Very few questions had 'my' prefered answer so had to make use of the boxes...sometimes one that was associated with the next set of, obviously less political, questions. Thus my answer would be..."Why don't you have a comments box for X?" and this is what I think about X.

That'll learn em...don't expect I'll be in the running for a prize but:E

Capt Wally 1st Feb 2008 05:46

..........now now boys & girls those that gave negative answers won't have a chance at winning the grand prize..............& if yr down & lying there amongst yr crumpled wreck you might very well be thinking I wish I had completed that crummy survey & won that major prize worth dieing for then I might not be here bleeding to death awaiting the Aerorescue plane.............then again if it's busted you up ****e creek anyway!!!!:}:}:}:}......hypothetical of course but then again we are talking about AsA !

Haven't done it yet but might do it, time how long it takes, then multiply that by $130 per hour and send in an invoice for that amount (plus administration fee). Anyone think they will pay it?:}:}:}

Cheers CB

Capt Wally 1st Feb 2008 07:58

......very clever 'cloud basher', don't 4get the GST, Great Stichup Tax !:}

Miraz 1st Feb 2008 08:16

@FTDK - call 1 800 805 150 and tell them you don't have a phone card and you'd like a briefing :)

I tuned into a VHF Flightwatch frequency last month - I thought I'd check for a reply before calling on the ATC freq for some weather before heading off across Bass Strait and found that it was manned by an operator explaining that the service was inactive, and he couldn't provide any information. :bored:

Those that gave negative answers will have their ASIC renewals put on hold for crimes against the state...

Another vote for WAAS...

Stationair8 3rd Feb 2008 08:30

A bit like the old mystery shopper.

Other questions that could have been asked:
1. How often do you use make use of TIBA?
2. Does frequency congestion give you the ****s?
3. For International Pilots do you like holding at Arbey, while YMML Tower ATC have a feed?
4. Can ASA further reduce ATC numbers and boost management bonuses?

time how long it takes, then multiply that by $130 per hour and send in an invoice for that amount (plus administration fee).
If I remember rightly $130 ph is a CASA fee. This survey is from Airservices.......

(who also charge an arm and a leg).

What a loaded document, It's a bit like the Yes/No only reply " have you stopped bashing your Missus"
I just got key board finger filling in all the comment boxes,But we should all have our say, then we can't whinge, as those that don't speak have no right to complain.
