727 to be crushed!
Hear from JHAS that an old AAE 727 VH-TXH which has been in JHAS hangar for months will be scrapped next week as was the Bae 146's of Ansett NZ. Surely a home in a museum couldnt be found for this piece of Aviation Jet History

Couldn't agree more, nothing worse than seeing great old birds crushed for scrap Aluminium 
Would make a great conversion to turn into a restaurant, office, house?
Just not right to see aviation history destroyed. Just need to let the imagination run wild as to uses apart from a museum.
I have no idea of the history but per chance an ex Qantas or era 72? Paint it up and send it to Longreach. There's the American dessert or is that desert
make a graveyard in the middle of Aus.

Am wondering how much the 727 could if at all be bought for?
Buying the thing I would imagine could be the easy part. Obviously a private individual couldn't restore it & fly it out unless yr an eccentric. But imagine the ground transport costs?
I know what will happen, the metal munchers will come in, there will be a hell of a stink over it from those that care & the whole event will sadly fade away over time into our sometimes not too proud aviation histroy

Boeing going
VH-TXH was VH-RMV. It has been gutted and beyond restoation to a/worthy. I managed to get some souvenirs as I was one of the team "parting it out".
Australian Air Express has 2 left VH-VLH and VLI aka VH-ANB and ANA both ex Ansett Longrangers (extra fuel tank in fwd cargo and a/throttle, a/brakes)
perhaps VLI which is next due for C check could be bought as museum piece before engines removed, flown to ?? and painted TAA one side Ansett the other.
Qantas never owned/operated 727s, but may have chartered them.

Metal Prices
Whilst the price of scrap metals are good, the scrappers have to reduce payments when cutting up old a/craft due to contaminants such as hydraulic fluid (skydrol), fibreglass, rubber, plastic & other metals. Therefore, only do it to remove debris and get some money or it's pay to take it to the tip.

I have a vision of this aircraft neatly placed on the Hastings (Vic) forshore and operating as a Bistro/Bar. I'd call it "727".
Young girls in short skirts selling high priced drinks to all the wannabe airline pilots and to those more mature ones who have already been there/done that - who just want to relive the good 'ol days, reckon I'd make a fortune!

Surely VLI (being ex ANA) deserves a better end than being turned into coke cans!

I remember flying E.J.Connellan home to his station and in his office he had leather office chairs that came from an aircraft. Beech 18 I think.
