Part Time Jobs

Hey all,

I have recently started training at a local airfield. I have about 5 hours TT, and hope to go solo on the day I turn 16 (currently 15). I really need a part time job to help fund my training. I'm willing to do anything that will keep me in the industry ie; sweeping floors, cleaning aircraft etc.., just for a bit of dough after school and during holidays. Should I just go door knocking with my resume? What other job possibilities are there for me?

PM me if needed.

Thank you in advance,
Tos

once you are old enough, get a "Responsible Service of Alcohol" (RSA) and also a RCG certificate and get a job serving beers in your off time. No matter WHEREABOUTS in Oz you end up, bartending experience will e beneficial to you.
Re the Resume, i doubt that you have one (not being nasty), so just turn up to the local operator and ask him/her straight up if he/she will take you on on a casual / part-time basis. Explain what you want and why you wnat it. they will either get rid of you straight away, or be helpful.... generally there will be no in-between.

either way, good luck with that first solo.

Mate,

Try Maccas, Woolies, Coles, or your local supermarket.
I know of heaps of 15 to 18 year olds working at all of these establishments.

Good luck.

Where are you?

G'day,

Depending on where you are an operations type role with an airline/operator could be beneficial, relevant and interesting. Worth asking around and visitting their website employment pages.

Good luck.

Mate, the guys are right...there won't be much avaliable in aviation just yet on account of your age. Most of us here (including myself) have done time at McD's or Coles and poured beers in various pubs and bars, it's a short term pain for that coin to get airborne.

Go with Bidgee's suggestion, and go to you local Coles etc. When you hit 18, go with Apache's advice and get your RSA cert, that will come in useful whilst you're moving around in GA.

Having just said that...does anyone know if one of the regional operators would take this kid on as a baggage handler whilst under 18?

Good luck with your flying, post on this thread when you've gone solo and let us all know how it went

LP

PS In which city do you reside??
