Poll: How often do you think your ATC has simulator emergency training?

(I can't see any option in creating a thread to start a poll as per http://www.pprune.org/forums/faq.php...l&titlesonly=0, so it will be manual)

Question for airspace users:
How often do you think that your ATC receives simulator refresher training for in-flight emergencies? These emergencies could include VFR in IMC, aircraft malfunction, loss of communications etc.

1) Once every 6 months
2) Once every year
3) Once every 2 years
4) Never

Here in the sandpit...the answer is once per year.
Mandatory full day with lectures and sim runs.
Why do you ask?

Every time I flew out of EN, why do you ask?

Seriously, wouldn't this depend on whatever mandatory check and training requirments as part of keeping your quals?

The question that goes hand in hand is how often does ATC get simulator refresher at all? Not some bull**** work sheet but a fairdinkum sim run that mimics real stuff. Probably get the same answer.

Never fear though. Free coffee Wednesday will solve the problem.

Danger

Looks like reality kicked in at the end when people got a whiff of the posts. I've been in the job 6 years. Spent one day (2 or 3 half hour runs, if that) in the sim (I use the term "sim" loosely, but don't get me started on that one...) a couple of years back simulating emergency procedures. That's it. Pretty impressive, eh?
