Given the current climate the start up labour from foreign airlines won't be cheap

Interesting that the requirement is for an ICAO ATPL, not an Australian one and there are also no citizenship or residency requirements.

Where are they planning on basing their pilots? Green Card anyone?

240K for a line captain? I hope you're right. I heard the Chief Pilot was only getting 210k.

Maybe he's on a commission for every one of his Yapea mates he ropes in.

Try $185 for a captain.
And you can be sure that you will work harder than any other long haul airline in the world. Its Another Pacific Blue to the current pilots. They do all the hard work and help build the airline up to see the jobs go somewhere else. Another slap in the face. Oh well this is what 53% voted for!

Actually it asks are you an Australian citizen or have a right to live and work in Australia. If you answer no it then asks are you going to apply for this. Nowhere does it say that V Australia will sponsor you.

There are plenty of Aussie expats who have a current ICAO ATPL and a non-current Aussie one.

Do your homework "out-of-balance". You will soon realise all is not as it seems.

Interesting times...

Nothing mentioned in their eba about pay scales on the 777 was there?

So how do you know whether or not to apply when you dont know basing/pay scales ....

I know you cant always find out later on.....

Time will tell

When the 777's start next year, the 737 base pay will be about 175K, so one would think that 777 rates would be significantly higher than that?

Ideally V Australia Flight Crew will have the following experience:
B777 type rating desirable.
Direct Entry Captions - 777 rating desirable.

F/O - turbine experience desirable.
