Question Survey plane down?

From ABC online

Darwin Police say nobody was injured when a single engine plane made an emergency landing next to the Arnhem Highway late yesterday afternoon.
The pilot was the only person on board the plane when it touched down about 40 kilometres from the Stuart Highway turn off.
Sergeant Bob Harrison says the plane was carrying out survey work when it was struck with engine trouble.
"Appeared to have engine failure... the pilot brought it down but as he was landing the plane collided with a tree and lost a wing," he said"
"The pilot is fine. He was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital as a precaution but he didn't sustain any injuries."

ABC news footage showed what looked like a Cresco/Fletcher with a geosurvey boom/projection.

A PLANE crash-landed in the Territory late yesterday afternoon.

The single engine Fletcher aircraft is believed to have escaped serious damage after a forced landing about 90km south east of Darwin around 5.40pm.

The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the plane, told police last night he was OK and would make his own way to hospital.

It is believed that the plane ditched south of the Arnhem Highway.

One report suggested it landed in rugged terrain about 20km from the highway.

Fugro does not operate Fletchers. Their Cresco is no where near Darwin, not even in Australia, so not Fugro.

Cresco 750 ZK-LTP, with a stinger tail, was known to be operating in the NT last month.

It is not with Fugro.

If it was an FU 24 then it's UTS if it was a cresco rather than a 750xl it may have been FUGRO. Last time I saw it it was painted a nice bright yellow but that was a fair while ago. Don't bag the beast too much. They are perfect for geophysics and a unique aviation experience, especially at 20 metres.

Well done for getting out of it safely too.

it was an FU24 that went in, only one survey company in australia operates them UTS, so all this talk of fugro is nonsense as it is not them.

Fugro only has one Cresco(in puke yellow) and its alot closer to Moscow than the NT at the moment.Has'nt been to Hells Crack for years either.....
If it was a Felcher, they are built like a brick Sh*t house and good on the driver for getting it down and walking away
Not much fun when it goes to cr*p below 300ft.....

explained!

Thank you sugarbird, you have my total unreserved apology. I thought the Fugro camp was a bit touchy over this, now I know why. Maybe the moderators should post a explanation when making changes as such.
But 10 fingers!!!!! when I only gave you 1. That was tough.
