IFR question
Hi Everyone,
I am currently studying IREX theory and was just wondering what is the difference between new and old criteria approach charts?
Thanks in advance

Now that's a really good question, and you would think that 10 years down the track, or is it 15 or 20 years, you would not even have to ask such a question.
The answer is in the AIP (or at least it used to be), and I am too damn lazy to go look it up for you!

The old criteria had a blanket speed restrictions for each approach regardless of aircraft type. The knew criteria recognises aircraft perform differently hence each aircraft category executes the procedure as published for their category eg. A, B, C, D.

Also there is a difference in the obstacle clearance heights between the two - 300' to 400'.
Pretty sure their are only 2 or three approches in Australia with the old plate - makes you wonder how long this staff actually takes!
