Aircraft fuselage

Gday All,
We are renovating a house in Melbourne, and we are looking at putting an aircraft fuselage in the backyard as a form of Pop-art, but also to double as a cubby house for our little kids.

Does anyone have an idead where I can obtain one for not too much money (if anything)?
Looking for intact fuselage and tail, but wings not essential

cheers for any help / guidance that anyone can give.

If your kids want a pressurised airconditioned cubby house there should be a few conquests going for very little in the next few months!

Shorts

I think Air North have a Shorts behind the hangar at Alice Springs. Didn't they call that a "shed"

Ummm, I don't think an aircraft fuselage as a cubby is a good idea. It would be better to build it out of plywood and get an old instrument panel/control column to stick into it.

Your average old fuselage has, once the interior is removed, lots and lots of nice sharp corners and things for little kids to cut themselves on. Furthermore, you definitely dont want a door.

Sorry to be a spoilsport.

There's a PA 31 fuselage behind the hangars at the west end of field at Essendon airport. You can see it from the freeway as you head city bound. Looks like it's been dumped there.

I was thinking about a PA-31 or similar. Maybe a 6 seater or something. Not too worried about the sharp edges, as I am pretty handy with a grinder.

The transit costs are going to be too prohibitive to make it worthwhile

Gee about a year ago there were some airworthy 721s offered for sale sans engines in Arizona. Good for one last ferry on rented engines. About US$80,000 per hull.

What about those 2 722's lined up at MEL, don't look like they're going anywhere. Or the QF 743 in the blue livery down at AV, mate if you're gonna do it, do it properly!!!!
Any local airfield with a maintenance organisation will have something being overgrown by weeds won't it?
Or nick one of the local pvt guy's aircraft, they won't notice till the next CAVOK sunday

Dave ducks for cover.......
