Canteen/Angelflight Fun Flight Day
Hi all,
A small group of people are in the process of organising a charity event by the name of "Canteen/Angelflight Fun Flight Day" in Melbourne on Sunday, 3rd of June. Canteen/Camp Quality, Angelflight and Peninsula Aero Club are all working together to assist with the organisation of the event.
The aim of the day is to give kids with cancer a flight around the bay in a small aircraft as a day out from some otherwise very tough times.
From Moorabbin, the flights will travel south to Tyabb for a bbq lunch, static displays and other activites. Following this, continuing around the bay via Geelong, Williamstown etc and return to Moorabbin.
Any of you involved with Angelflight should already have seen an email asking for expressions of interest and we'll soon be contacting those who replied to follow up on that shortly. At this stage we now have 30-odd possible aircraft with seating for up to 100 kids/carers. We'd like to boost plane numbers to about 50 so anyone wishing to donate their time/aircraft to this event would be very welcome. Please PM me with an email address to register your interest.
Angelflight are offering to provide fuel credits (as their usual practice) for Angelflight pilots and hopefully for other pilots involved in the day - I'll advise those interested when it's sorted out fully - and airspace/landing fee waivers will be negotiated also as for a 'normal' angelflight.
Any other avaiation-related organisations interested in supporting the event via a static display at Tyabb should also drop me a PM.
Thanks for your time in reading this and I hope to meet some of you on the day,
Regards,
UTR.
PS Mods, I hope this isn't against the site rules against - hopefully you don't need to delete it and could sticky it for a week or two?

All you southerners get behind this.
Pity its along way from Bris or I would be there. Maybe we should do this up here too, after all this is where AF Oz started!
I love my AF flights, makes the privilege of flying really worthwhile.

Hi J430,
Thanks for your support! The 'southern' event has been initiated by a non-flyer from Melbourne who had planned to start out with a few planes flown by his friends. After contacting Angelflight it's grown from there.
Michel has spoken to Bill Bistrow and, if it goes well, we may look at going national next year.

G'day EXFSOGRIFFO
Here it is. Nanchang CJ-6A. 1991 Build, 1200 hrs.
Engine is 9 cylinder Huosai H6 Radial.
String like an Ox - true enough
Smart like a tractor - that'd be the punter at the controls - yours truly

Griffo,
In the west, I think the SABC organise a canteen day at Serpentine on an annual basis. I did it a few years back and had a great day.
