Thumbs down who started it??

Somewhere in Australia sits a tosser who first started out reporting that he "maintains" 5000 or whatever, satisfied in the knowledge that he left his mark on Australian aviation.

I recently heard a capt begin his PA with the words,"Good morning ladies and gentlemen, the captain speaks..."

Twas a pom, of course.

At least your Rat driver leaves the word "the" at the FIR boundary. Even he wouldn't fly around aussie referring to himself as 'the' Qantas ###...!!

Would he????

Talking

Finally!! I was starting to think it was only me that noticed this incorrect use of the English language. Pretty disappointing to hear a good majority of the regional RPT drivers adopting it as standard phraseology. I've always felt that R/T procedures are one of only a few ways fellow pilots can gauge my professionalism at work.

TwoHundred

I'm a bit slow off the mark. At first I thought your poem was a desprate attempt at some humour
Then I twigged and thought it deserves a double thumbs up .

I enjoyed it (after reading it ten odd times).

Freaker was a classic.

I remember the first time I heard that song sung at the Big House........I swear, I wept, it was so funny.

I heard him mention that he'd make a CD of it one day..........I'd pay top dollar for that!

If an area controller tells you to contact him on a different frequency (ie ABC contact me now on 123.4) and you change over, do you have to broadcast the frequency as well as the level maintaining?

ie Brisbane Centre ABC 123.4 maintaining FLXXX ? (bearing in mind that it is the same operator.)

Postscript to 200s

Congrats and full marks on starting this thread in the such a clever way. I don't think a subtle technique blends well into this age. Just noticed that you actually should have turns finals. That is what I was briefed when enduring a circuits brief (describing how to fly a circuit) as a student and during a rating renewal.

I hear finals a lot and I put it down to the captain of the spaceship lining up to land at one location however dreaming they are landing somewhere else in their Easterns dash.

No intent to deviates your threads around the weather.

Muffs (and only if there were).

That would depend on wether you responded on the previous frequency to him or not, as some do...

As it is a requirement to readback a frequency, if you didn't respond prior to changing, which in my opinion is perfectly acceptable, then you would acknowledge the frequency change on the new frequency.
