Speedbirdhouse...Sometimes when I read your posts I think you and I were in the same initial training course !!!!

A good example of these types you were mentioning are the slurpers...sorry i meant sherpa's....

A prime example of the "perfect" crew member made me laugh with the pic on the board of the thai based crew member given an award and then hastily taken down when he was arrested for a problem with HM customs in the old dart......

Another example when I started was one of these favoured ones who put a doyley on anything that did not move for more than 6o seconds.Could you rely on them in the cabin.....NO

Unhappy Quote;Speedbirdhouse

"They are great at "parroting" rules, regulations, proceedures, service flows, uniform standards and the like but they lack common sense, people management skills, operational knowledge, confidence or integrity."

Well that settles it, the 380 will be crewed by S/H

ok here is a possibilty on who might crew the A380 (be nice now).
Firstly i'm AO/QF crew as some of you regulars would know by now. For about the 100th time in the past 4.5 years there is speculation about the Cairns base. As lowerlobe would agree with me AO was a tempory vehicle to drive down operating costs. I think a smart man knows that in 6 months time our EBA is up, and it looks like we could be the first crew wearing a QF uniform on a AWA. Now think A380, and a take over. It has been mentioned a few times in the press that QF Management are looking at a dedicated crew for the A380. These a/c are arriving quite slowly for the first year and there is only around 270 of us. I'm not suggesting Cairns based crew are better than mainline, mainline have quite a lot of good crew, and a few stupid ones that bring the rest down. My point is how low can they go (lowerlobe).
As i've said in the past AO posts, I feel we will all be part of a new long Haul. Hey they might just close us down and say seeya! I still strongly believe there is still more to play for, for the crew in Cairns. Some of those a/c could be crewed with MAMs as well! Another possibility.
I know this is a MAM thread, however I wanted to put that out there about the A380 and here your thoughts.
Sorry tightslot.

Hey Alec

AO is/was Australian Airlines - with cabin crew based in Cairns. I believe they're still waiting on a decision with regards to their jobs. Currently operating on wet lease to QF in QF uniform and on QF planes

MAM means QF, so really it is a QF thread, but the other MAM thread was moved to D&G.

mid assist...

What do you mean by "My point is how low can they go (lowerlobe)"......?

casualvermin...If they come out with a contract "D" for the 380 you won't have to worry about home reserve as they will probably want you to do it on the aircraft!!!

How much more will they want?....For those who know me you will understand that this is a rhetorical question. There is no limit to the greed that they will want and the only limiting factor is the law at the time.In other words which government and which industrial laws are in at the time.

The "Elite Fleet"....A380

Why would anybody want to work on these big mothers?
SYD/LAX with 600 of your closest friends at reduced TOCs.
Are you nuts?
I will see my days out on the 400....... thank you VERY much!

DEFCON4 -
That has reminded me of a quite senior LH guy on one of my flights recently. He was unimpressed at what the company has become and what the job is like now compared to 10 years ago and before. I left him with a sobering thought... What is it like now, and what will it be like, for people who started in 2000 looking for the same kind of career he has had?

Why is it in flying the past is always the good old days? That is true for me and I only started 7 years ago! What is going to be left for the rest of us?

Good times, good times...

???????

What in your opinion is a good time?
1.Reduced TOCs
2.Reduced time at home
3.Reduced /Zero career progression.
4.A Shrinking network
In my 25 years of flying TOCs have ALWAYS moved forward...until now.

Thought I'd bump this thread up. Does anyone know what the future for MAM recruitment will hold? What about recruitment for short haul?

yeah, thanks for bumping this up.

I, too am wondering what's going on. They've got interviews coming up in SYD and MEL too. Nothing for BNE at this stage. I'm wondering how long the whole process takes. I went to a JQI assessment a month ago and haven't heard. MAM sent me an email out of the blue, so hoping something will come of this instead.
