Borghetti's letter to Qantas Second Officers re Meeting
Have you got yours yet?
Can I respectfully suggest we use this post as a focal point for some difficult questions to toss at the spin masters?

Just a guess, offering slots as F/O's on the A-330 at Jetstar perhaps?

Spin, hmmmm lets see. I haven't seen it but let me take a guess. (Remembering that SO's form the largest voting group in AIPA)
"Your future is bright!"
"Don't listen to the doomsayers!"
"Trust us!"
"AIPA gives you only the negatives"
"You are a valued employee!"
Am I close?

The worst thing for QF pilots to do now is to sign an EBA. By not signing we continue with the current terms & conditions but will be effectively losing 3-4% p a but if we sign then, under the new industrial laws, management will be able to throw out the Certified Agreement and revert to 5 basic conditions.

My thoughts exactly Going Boeing - as I understand it, signing an EBA under the current workchoices regime would be a less than ideal situation.
I'm very surprised that the company didn't try to sweeten the deal to get us to do exactly that - if they had offered 3 x3% with no/minimal offsets, most pilots would have jumped at the offer (being blinded by the $$$ as the notoriously greedy beings we are!) and walked into the trap. However, the fact that the company expects the pilot body to sign an EBA under workchoices, with NO sweeteners (aside from more flying - which is really a rostering efficiency matter anyway) shows just how arrogant the management are at the moment...
I look forward to reading my letter when I get to work tomorrow morning

Your address mustn't be on the database Johnny. This, like the letter from Geoff, was personally addressed to all individuals around the country.
That aside, what questions will be answered??? Yep I reckon it will be.. No, no, no Jetstar is a seperate entity and as such you blokes have nothing to worry about. With the support of the chief who says we should be greatful for the time as second officers, what hope is there for any positives from this.
Perhaps more important questions like how have you reformed the way we do business? Why do we run seperate electronic manuals and paper manuals for all fleets? Whats that cost? Efficiencies my a$%se. We are introducing a flight planning system that other airlines have been using for ten plus years. We are running around in jets that are approaching 20 years old and dicko has the hide to be giving the new machines to the 'leisure' market carrier. Go figure. I wish they'd come clean and cut to the chase and forget the rest of the bs. 'Look fellas the deal when the 787 turn up is Jetstar package.' Thanks boss.

Maybe if 5.30 credit is paid a few will turn up....
otherwise the corridor creepers will have the place all to themselves, we are all sick and tired of the implied threat to our careers, and particularly the S/O's lack of opportunity. Plenty of the junior pilots at QF have active applications elsewhere, so Bogetti and Mannery the message from the S/O's I fly with is clear...Save the postage ...
It is just now a job for the $ and the ever shrinking list of destinations....

would someone be kind enough to put me out of my misery and post a copy of the said letter...

Has it gone to QCC mailboxes or home addresses? I haven't got mine yet (sorry, assuming it's not just to S/Os). I got the one from Geoff. I feel personally affronted now. Why can't I be cajoled, vaguely threatened, misled, talked down to, and beguiled along with everyone else?

Post it or Parse Off.
If there is a letter that is causing such concern, why is the letter or part of it not reproduced here?
I'd say GD has the measure of QF pilots. This thread is the proof.
Apparently there is some letter which is upsetting you. However, none of you will reproduce it here for your peers to read. You are indignant at the challenge to your status, but lack the courage to take a stand. You are mistrustful of those of your peers that are not QF mainline pilots. After a short burst of "its just not right" you will fold and accept whatever QF management deigns to offer you. You will then blame the Jetstar pilots that undermined "your" conditions.
Game over. Unless you mob change your attitude and your ways.

It's a letter from the Chief Pilot inviting second officers to a question and answer session with flight ops and Borghetti will be there for an hour to answer questions.

Actually I don't know what the fuss is about. It'll probably be something fairly benign, like "we're here to reassure you that your career and promotional prospects are looking excellent providing you sign these AWAs accepting jetstar conditions as soon as possible, otherwise all bets are off"
I'd happily post the letter - except I didn't get one (well, certainly not up til Wednesday, unless it has been posted today...)
It amazes me that they honestly still can't understand why the staff don't trust management... Statements from Borghetti along the lines of "I whole heartedly trust the staff of Qantas to do their utmost, - so why don't the staff trust the management to do their jobs to the utmost...?" illustrate that they just don't get it.
Interesting that there has still been NOTHING further done with regards to the engagement survey - aside from creating a committee to look into it, and then disbanding it...

LoL I would have re-produced it but honestly I trash every letter I get from the company because they are always a load of junk, anything important goes to my mailbox, and if its really important they will call me, besides Ive got more important things to do like fishing and maintaining my current applications to other companies...
For those wondering what the letter says, it really doesn't say much at all other than give a date and time and RSVP address. It's actually written by the CP and mentions that Il Duce (Borghetti) will be in attendance for "an hour" (how gracious of him to devote all of that time).
Hopefully it won't just be the "corridor creepers" in attendance as their view of the company is somewhat clouded by reality - I reckon it's pretty damn important we get as many as possible there.
Anyway, I've got a question -
* Why does the CP not know how to wear his bars properly?
