Managed to log quite a few hours in ISM when I was with Simbu. I remember one day just joining the circuit at Hauwabaga when I heard the left prop suddenly go into fine pitch, looked out to see oil streaming everywhere so had to shut the engine down and head back to Kerema!
Checking my log book shows that I also flew ISF and ISR on a couple of occasions.
As for high time BN2's; SAB(ex Douglas DNV?) had about 16,000+hrs for over 32,000 landings when I flew it for Simbu. Finally had the right engine let go big time one day coming back from Kamulai.
Most POB can't remember accurately but 24+ (Schoolkids out of Tapini)
And have all of three hours ICUS in Trilander DNN with LV keeping an eye on me!

I fly a 1998 BN2T in Europe (I’m from Tassie, over here building hours). They’re a great little aircraft with fantastic climb performance, but the Alison’s are twitchy little bastards with over temp on a slow start-up being one of the biggest problems. There are still quite a lot of BN2Ts around in the Northern hemisphere, but I know there is little demand for these aircraft when it come to resale, so a lot are being converted to piston to sell on. Still, give me the BN2T, a pair of thermal socks and a good noise reducing headset and I’m happy!

BN2A-20 300HP No tip tanks
BN2A-21 300HP Tip tanks

Silly Old Git
I managed to sneak and slink around and generally keep out of sight when an Islander endorsement was threatening.
They were used as punishment .
What a ghastly excuse for an aeroplane.

i once read a flight test in some magazine where a test pilot described and demonstrated a single engine take off...the strip had to be as long as it was wide but it can be done

troppo....Don't write much no more, but read a little when I have the time to spare, and that is becoming a rare commodity these days....
Just a few other bits of useless info. 3 digit S/No aircraft where made in the UK, with 4 digit S/No being made in Romania and ferried to the UK for completion. A different sequence of 4 digit S/No aircraft were assembled at PADC in Manila. Those aircraft made in the UK and/or assembled in Manila were more prone to corrosion then those made in Romania.

19 heads out of Witu just after I started with Crowleys.
Sat in the cockpit writing the manifest whilst they filed past carrying their bilums etc to the baggage hatch, and when I had collected all the money, closed the hatch as they had very nicely loaded it all for me.....
Had to force the doors shut........ and got most of the way down the strip towards the soda water when the nose started to rise....... heap of trim and we missed the driftwood logs......!
Got into Bali and turned around to start a count......damn thing was black with a thousand eyes......
Hold was full of coconuts...... obviously a BYO party!
Never used a manifest after that and picked up every bit of baggage.

QTN - The Turbine Islander is actually a pleasant aircraft to fly with reasonable performance and a smooth ride. The down side is the aircrafts inadequate heating and excessive cockpit noise. Hence the comments........?!?

Brittain Norman UK, were experimenting years ago with a ducted fan version, the 260hp engines drove a very large fan, possibly as much a four feet in diameter.
Speed and noise issues were the driving factor behind the programme but the total cost of certifying and proposed maintenance was far in excess of the projected benefits.
