Well said Zooropa and SW12. To the guys doing the repair job, can you keep us all posted as to how the recovery goes?

Gordstar, I've moved a few times since the days of 'the rock' so I'm not too sure where the piccies are but it's for a great cause so I'll get back to you.

Now that was a bon-fire!

Cheers, PP

Haha!! I've found it!

After a search through my black-mail folder from 'the rock' I've finally found a photo of the wall.

If anyone wants a copy, PM me your email and I'll send it to you. I think your photo's gone from the fridge though Gordstar.

PP.

reply from the painter

My dear fellow aviators,

This is the first time in my life I have felt so low, for an unforgivable mistake. I know I have never met most of the guys, but didn't intend to disrespect any one or their messages-the reason I painted the wall was each day when I used to look at it, it was making my days longer and longer, which made me feel as if I was serving time in a prison.

But I did not know that, it meant a world to u all, out there. I spent 18hrs of my time, along with the others in the house to restore the wall of fame back to its glorious state.

I could not get back a few words in a few couple of messages, but most of the messages are better etched now than they were ever before. It's a shame that I was outta my mind to do a such a mistake. I have always heard aviation is a great good family. I feel I am part of it, while we were all growin up I bet everyone have done their own share of mistakes in life.

I am sorry from the deepest part of my heart and I have done my very best to restore the wall.

I hope u gys are not shallow enough not to forgive me.

Happy landings
The Painter

Big House Wall

To Pigprodder, thanks mate for the update.
Hope to hear from you soon.
To Pilotprune, well thanks for sharing your thoughts with us and apologising.
Working on Horn Island in aviation means you have joined a special, eclectic group of individuals which has links all over the World.
Many of us carry our experiences on Horn Island for many years after leaving, and we are often remembered for events we participated in or perpetrated.
I have many fond memories of the place, and a few less so, but generally it is all good.
So "painter", you have now attached yourself to an event, and I think sadly for you, it will stay attached.
If I meet you on HID, and I expect I will at some time, I will have a chat to you.
Thanks for helping to attempt to restore the wall, and may the rest of your time on the rock be enjoyable and less controversial than your beginnings.
Hi to everyone else and may the legend of the BON-FIRE live on.
Cheers
