There used to be a bienniel pylon racing event in Tassie a few years back. It was called Skyrace and was quite popular at the time. If I recall correctly, Bob Hoover did a flying display there once. Not sure why they stopped having it in the end

Reb Bull Responds.
Red Bull has answered my email request. They are negotiating a leg of the Air Race in Australia. I will keep on it!
"We are currently in discussions with a number of states within Australia regarding the 2006 Australian leg of the Red Bull Air Race World Series.
We have forwarded your message to Luke Hannan, our Sports Marketing Manager who will be in touch with you should he require your assistance."

The aerobatic club typically organises events just for its own members. The club might not want to risk its funds on organising an airshow.
ps. Pall, good news
From the aerobatic club's point of view - its purpose is defined by its members. That includes promotion of the club amongst potential members, which is not the general public. Join the club, Obiwan, pay your modest subscription and have your say then will you offer to personally contribute to a share of the many $ needed to underwrite the Red Bull event?
The aerobatic club is not in the business of running circuses for the general public.
As for those discussions regarding Red Bull here in '06, I'll continue the discussion of the aerobatic club's involvement or not, as the case may be, when its all settled.

What the hell is going on here?
@ All Australians BE HAPPY WITH YOUR AUTHORITY!
I have been to SYD three times because I got relatives in Bankstwon and have also been to this wonderful airport.
You are allowed to do thinks down under we in Austria can't even dream of - like no ground control at Bankstown. Not to mention the landing of aircraft on the eastern beach of Fraser Island without having ten trucks bringing equipment to close down the beach for at least 10 km!!!.
I am from Austria and I attended the event in Zeltweg (LOXZ) and have also been to Salzburg Airport (OWS) where the Hangars No 7 & No. 8 are the home of the Red Bull Wing.
The airshow itself was great and to avoit troubles with insurance and locals the show was at an army air field, where civil authorities have nothing to say at all.
Mr. Mateschitz, the Boss of Red Bull is used to orgnaize such points on highest levels, so bringing the Air Race down under would probably mean to connect it to an airshow of the armed forces, just to avoid too much hazzle.
They are not responding to your emails, because the get thousands of such emails every day - the are surely not looking for a sponsor sin e Red Bull IS the Sponsor. They are really invetsing into that aviation part...
You might want to check out the website Hangar 7 which is great. Admission is free throughout the year (except certain private events in the hangar which occur very seldom) and the bars / restaurant in there are simply great - rather high prices, but worth every cent.
So if you really have to apologize for something, take your girlfriend there - an ideal place for any aviation enthusiast to spend a weekend with yircarft AND you girlfriend without offending either one .
Regards, Bernhard
P.S. Is RED BULL sold in Australia and how much is it there?

- its a civil operation regardless of venue
- the military, in my experience, have onerous requirements for insurance of civil operators at their bases; apart from the spectators
- Red Bull is the major sponsor of these events but not the only one

RE HANGER 7
N5528P,
Went to the hangar 7 link you gave us. Looks very exciting. What sort of AIRPORT is this facility at? I would love to promote something like this here.
A major backer would be needed. I have a few ideas about how this could be facilitated.
You have to dream!
