VB/J* Pilots :.. Are Endorsements Tax Deductable?
Grandpa Aerotart
Jetstar are paying for the endorsement up front (and if you pass the final check you are offered employment)...you then pay for the endo over the next three years via a pre tax salary sacrifice system...clear enough?
I personnally think this is a vast improvement and a huge step back in the right direction...it will be interesting to see if VB follow suite.

Thanks. Got it. I didn't know which "they" you were referring to.
Don't VB reimburse pilots for the endorsement cost over a year or so. The cost is paid up front by the candidate then final sim check leads to an offer of full time employmet.
Yes the Jetstar system seems a BIG improvement from many viewpoints, not the least being the tax benefit.
Why is a A320 endorsement so much more than an B737 endorsement?

I think the main difference is that, in the VB case, the tax man gets a big cut of the reimbursement...whereas with Jet* you pay via salary sacrifice (before tax) so save heaps on the endo.
As to why the price difference between sim types I have no idea.
