Instructor rating dude (but only if you want to be an instructor; if you know what i mean)...

atleast there are a few descent instructing jobs out there and you can do you atpl theory while you instruct.... from what i see during your first job as an instructor you will be sitting down answering phone for a little while so there is plenty of time.. remember just do one at a time for the moment, even of you cant afford to do them all.

unfortunatly in the scheme of things the ATPL theory doesn't really help for the FIRST job but it is critical down the end.

happy hunting

spend the money on some c210 time and head north, ATPL won't help you up there though, well not for your first job atleast

no doubt the 210 time will help, but i could get no holidays and no money to do my ATPL earlier than i did, and will always regret that.

If you are short on cash, as many of us are, my advise is:

get any flying job you can get and then start doing intrument rating, twin endorsments ATPL theory and so on..... you get a lot more back on tax by doing so.

Every little bit helps.

Good luck with whatever you choose

I think that a better investment would be to get your Multi-engine Command Instrument Rating.

Seems like a "no brainer" to me. You want a job right now right?
Can your immediate employer use your current and available instructor rating NOW, or should they wait however long to take advantage of your ATPL (but only when you have enough hours to qualify for it?). Mate do your Rating first and study ATPL while you are working.

As was said previously, don't bother doing the instructor rating unless you seriously believe you can teach people. There are enough looser waste of time instructors out there that are good pilots but not cut out for instructing. Please don't add yourself to the list.

Get the ATPL while you can.

It is sooo Bloody hard to get while working, getting married & divorced etc.

Won't help much now but in the future, while your colleagues are sweating it out with the right hours but no time to study - you get to walk on by.

Instrucotr rating nearly always will get you out of tight situation when short on work.

However I've seen the ATPL theory hold back some good men for a long time.
