Question Research Q: Airshow Food

Hey all,

there is a point to this question....

My sister is tendering to bring her mobile catering/fastfood services to the airshow at Cunderdin next year.

I myself was at the last one, but can't remember what they had in the way of food besides the sandwich tent & the steak thingo.

What would you lot best like in the way of food? I know some stayed the weekend, was there much in the way of late-night food/breakfast at the site, or did you have to go into town/BYO?

I ask because if there'd be enough demand, and the company gets the job, they'd consider doing cooked breakfasts in the morning/late night food for those camping the weekend.

They do everything from chips, burgers etc to sandwiches, salad, drinks, donuts, popcorn, coffee etc. It all dpends on what the organisers allow them to do, so if she had an idea what you guys, the customers, want the company may be able to persuade them to add more to the prospective menu.

(I am also suggesting that a small amount from each sold of a yet-to-be-determined menu item be donated to the RFDS or Angel Flight or similar.) Do you think people would go for it?

Thanks for any input, if her company gets the job she really wants to bring what the customers want, make a successful go of it.

What a great Idea, SS

SS

I must say that for a non-front line aviation thread, you have really picked a winner.

Last year I overnighted and like most who did were dissapointed in the food that was available out of AS hours. Thank god for the Air Force Cadets.

I definetly could have done with some Breky and even the odd late night snack or two.

I am sure Mr Aus and his Jeddi crew would have killed for a Pizza to go with those FEW beers as well.

All in all a great Idea, tell your sister that there is a small, but probably big enough crew that would use the facility if it were available and the food was right.

I personaly believe that a much bigger crowd will be at the next one.

See you there, and that will be Two hot dogs a coke and bag of chips.

At last!

I was beginning to think this'd be another of my doomed-to-no-replies threads...

Well the food isn't anything fancy, just your usual take-away deli type stuff, but a heck of a lot better than soggy sandwiches at 10pm!!

I don't think their keeping things going till late will be a big hassle - I have worked with them occasionally and to do a 2am close is nothing if it's busy enough.

She has also given a thumbs up to the donation idea, so, here's hoping the organising folk at Cunderdin are happy with it...

(And I have seen the breakfasts for myself during the Royal Show, they look pretty good compared to what you'd find in a servo first thing Sunday morning!!! )

I am sure Mr Aus and his Jeddi crew would have killed for a Pizza to go with those FEW beers as well.
So those guys sitting in wing shade with an esky were Prooners!!!!

Thanks for the reply, anyone else got an opinion? Anyone?

Geez, when you want an opinion, seems no one's around, but when you dont want one....

Aw come on....

You don't have to be going to this particular one... any airshow opinions would be fine!!

Also, d'you reckon there'd be much demand for kiddie rides to keep the little ones occupied???

I think that some good tasting food would be a great addition to the Cunderdin Airshow. Just don't have the prices so high that the poor pilots struggle to pay for lunch!

One of my pet hates is when im expected to pay extra for sauces. I love tomato sauce and lots of it... little sauce dispenser packets are a great idea, but free sauce from a bottle should be available for those sauce lovers out there!!

my 2 cents

Cold Beer & Hot Coffee!!!!

But hey, one out of two will do................

Furthermore, nothing finishes off a night of camping fun better than Bacon & Eggs with Good Brewed Coffee! Just ask any Birdsville Races visitor.

They're as complimentary as pilots & planes.

Thanks for the replies guys

I agree, I hate it when I have to dig around for 30c to get tomato sauce with my pie... I'm pretty sure we usually just have the squeezy bottles with a few different sauces, chicken salt etc. Unless there's some new kind of law that says they can't have squeezy bottles anymore (yes, the Health Department can get very picky!! ) I don't see why not.

Price wise I'd say things would be a medium.. its hard to keep things really cheap once you get fees for this and that, plus travel, wages etc etc... but I'd say it wouldn't be tooo bad...

Sorry, no beer! seeing as this setup is not licensed. They're still having a beer tent right...?

But coffee you may get... depending on what kind of expected crowd number the Cunderdin lot give, I may be able to persuade her to bring up the Segafredo machine... proper coffee!

And she likes the idea of doing breakfast if there's enough demand.... so we'll see!
