IREX Questions
On a DME or GPS Arrival as per the AIP no manoeuvring is permitted after the Final Approach Fix. The question was regarding Mangalore to Griffith on the 004 track (note there is no sector on this approach) .
What is the closest distance to the aerodrome that you may manoeuvre?
a)25nm
b)5nm
c)the CTAF boundary
d)Up to the aid
What are your thoughts on this, as it is a track and there is no sector isnt there no manoeuvring at all????
cheers,

The procedure is only giving you a lowest safe when within the track keeping requirements. (ie no manouvering) unless you remain above the 25/10nm MSA of 3100 feet and are obviously inside these distances as well.

hmmm, yes that true. my thoughts are maybe the chart has changed since that question was written and that before maybe there was an actual sector there.
the answer that was given as correct was 5nm, which is the distance that the FAF is...but if you are above the 10nm MSA of 3100 feet, then you can manoeuvre wherever you please...
