Near Tragedy at Rollos in SA
Hello again, fellow Pruners! The 'blues is back! I just have to tell you about a 'funny thing' that happened to me the other day... it was late Saturday afternoon, actually... I was at polo practice with my mates at the Monarto Polo Club enjoying at bit of a 'gallop and hit' when ALL OF A SUDDEN, a big Cessna came out of the gloom and almost turned my horse into dog food with the spinning prop! Fortunately my little Arabian sidestepped out of the way and we were safe... I must say that the poor pilot and the seven 'jumpers' on that aircraft had an even nearer miss. One of my friends who is a jump instructor for that school said that the scariest thing was that none of them were strapped in! They all flapped about like rag dolls - people screaming, arms and legs everywhere.... Now, I have copped a lot of flack over these meatbombers and the way that I have been so incredibly critical of them in regards to how they conduct themselves. I really hope that those blokes down on 'Blind Jim Scofield Dr.' WAKE UP and stop dithering about before someone REALLY gets hurt. And for you morons who got stuck into me the last time, perhaps you should get your heads read and stop worrying about attacking me and worry about the REAL ISSUES. Those skydiving planes fly in pure IMC on a regular basis, especially in winter. THIS is illegal. Maybe GREGGIE should assess the ethics of his company and where he really wants to be in 10 years? Gaol or Bermuda?? Last week I was out flying at Mannum and saw them break cloud... HELLO? South Australian aviation is like the state's economy... Old, crusty and derelict... Yay! I love it here!

Welcome to the real world meatbombing it's the same all over the country and the APF will probably say it didn't happen, it was a figment of your imagination, as they did around our area but the vid's don't lie.

Firslty, I am glad that all people involved are safe and well.
I wish the paying public knew the conditions that they are risking their lives under. If it is not bad enough that you are flying up to 10,000 ft then jumping out of a plane (CRAZY, but at least it should be safe), you are getting into a very old plane, which I think has been around along time (In KFI's case). I know it was an EX-Charter plane.
The operators are using old clapped out aircraft, and MOST are not paying a cent to their pilots.
So the general public are paying a couple of hundred dollars for a tandem, to risk their lives in old planes, which are being flown by pilots who don't get paid.
SOUNDS PRETTY PROFESSIONAL TO ME!!!
Generally I hate Current Affair CH9 and today tonight CH7, but I wish someone would call them up and tell them to start investigating these CROOKS. (while they are at it, I know of a few Flying schools that do they same- Not paying that is). Maybe I'll do it.

Curiosity bluesy....
when practicing polo we always used to call it "stick and balling" or hit and giggle (like tennis).... and rarely rode arabs, they were generally Australian Stock Horses (mostly thoroughbred), Thoroughbreds or similar breeding.... how things change....
The jump operators used to do night jumps at home. Perfectly legal Im told... except I figured that jumping through cloud during the day was reprehensible, aircraft calling itself another aircraft call sign to avoid getting in the proverbial, jumping during icing conditions through cloud (on days when the rest of the fleet was on the ground due weather)... Hogans Heros we called em...
