The Army flew their PC-6s under the bridge on their final flight before getting Nomads. Taped it off the tele - got it somewhere here...

Well to all the people that are not Sydney locals and don’t know or have not looked it up.

The Sydney VTC states there are two restricted area around the harbor where the bridge is R405A & R405B

R405A IS SFS - 500ft and it starts at the bridge and goes west.
R405B is SFS - 1500ft and it is east of the bridged.

There is "C" Class airspace above this which is usually Sydney radar or Sydney departures/ariv depends on runways in operation at Sydney.

R405A/B was first introduced for float planes and later used for rotorcraft Now both can use R405A/B The only way to get to R405A/B bellow the "C" class airspace is to fly down air route Victor One or come back up the Parramatta River from Bankstown. In any case If you don’t have floats or rotors or some special Disk Smith Rating your cant do it.

Second. I live just near there and saw this aircraft South of the shoreline. It was conducting random movement South of bondi Junction. Is rite in the Sydney Control zone and almost in the Sydney circuit.

Anybody who has done orbit's over the harbor Will know this read back only to well.

Maintain 2500 Orbits approved East of the bridge North of the southern shore.

If you look at the VTC you cant go wrong. There is also the Sydney Visual Pilots guide which has lots of info.

I usually don’t through stones as we all can make mistakes but this seems just to stupid for words It says in the paper she has a commercial pilots license. Perhaps CASA should look into where this person did there training.

You don't expect to be taken seriously do you?

Matt-YSBK

(Remember you have to have passes in English, Maths & Physics to get into airlines)

Matt baby, Give it away.... I lost count after 16 spelling/grammar errors - lucky as you say you "usually don't through (sic) stones as we all can make mistakes but this seems just to (sic) stupid for words". It says in the paper she has a commercial pilots license (sic). Prhaps CASA should look into where this person did there (sic) training."

Now go back to school and do English again. This time pay attention

PS Hope you don't write your own resumes.

Howard Hughes - if my memory and that of those who passed this on to me are correct, it has been done. I remember Syd Marshall telling me, as a very young rat in his bankstown hangar, that a fellow by the name of Goya Henry achieved the feat. Goya was responsible for quite a lot more too, if Syd was to be believed. Nothing else Syd passed on to me has led me astray so this stands up in my mind.

Howard Hughes; I concur with SeldomFixit; According to a story I was told many years ago by a now 'elder statesman' in aviation here in SA someone has performed a loop 'around' the bridge.
Would have been great to watch.
As for the latest effort; watch the pollies scramble for cover re the security side of things.
Or am I just being a wee bit cynical??

Thumbs up

The story about looping the bridge was way way way back.

Said single seat high performance machine with fan in front was told to “orbit the bridge”.

His excuse was that they did not say Horizontally or Vertically…..

I personally know three individuals that have been under, two legally one eerrrr not so but he’s still in the industry.

Oh, luna landing...... the trouble is, Matt-YSBK is absolutely correct. Maybe his spelling's not so flash, but he knows the rules, the procedures and he respects them. I would rather have a co-pilot sitting next to me who demonstrates his kind of attitude, even if he CAN'T spell. What kind of guy are you? Are you a professional pilot? If you are, then I hope your post is just a big wind-up and not really reflection of your true attitude!

I'm kind of wondering where some of you blokes were on the evening of Sep 11, 2001..... happen to see the telly? Have you noticed that a few things have changed since then? I really wonder if you'd be making a big joke of this and having digs at blokes' spelling, etc, if that 172 had been full of ammonium nitrate and being driven by some crazy fanatic looking to meet his 57 dark-eyed virgins.... It just could have been that way, you know. Some people out there are a bit pi$$ed at Aus just at the moment. Think about it!

The world's changed, definitely for the crappier, we all know that. If you cannot accept that, get out of the business. Crikey, if that pilot really is a CPL, then spare me.... Just think about what the implications for ALL pilots might suddenly be as a result of that stupidity. Let me give you an easy one for starters: no more harbour scenics allowed......? Let's not even start to talk about possible restrictions on hiring of light aircraft, etc, etc....

Sorry Ushuaia, but I happen to agree with Luna Landing in pointing out basic spelling errors that frequently occur on almost every forum on this DB. I find it a shame that so many 'professional' people have such poor spelling and still can't distinguish between 'lose' and 'loose', 'there', 'they're' and 'their' or 'to', 'two' and 'too' (you'll find many examples of this if you open a few threads).

What's pointing out a few spelling errors got to do with attitude?! LL never said anything about not respecting regulations. For all you know he might have exactly the same attitude as Matt. He's just pointing out that a little more attention to detail, spelling in this case, might make the post a little more legible...and I personally think attention to detail is something that should come naturally to any professional. Notice he didn't point out the typo...or is that attention to detail?

Anyway, back to topic....

Angry

My fear is that with Richard Head's carrying out stunts like this, responsible pilots may not be allowed to carry out Victor 1 flights.
No excuse, the pilot knew it was illegal. Punish the blatant crime, not the petty mistakes!

Very good! I'm impressed. But what is this last word: "Atlas"? Maybe it means "Salat" - which is what Muslims do 5 times a day: pray!

Ok, getting this back on the subject.... look at this link on flights under the bridge in the past. But that was then. Sadly these days things are very different. I'm just waiting for Anderson and CASA do order something like aeroprof fears - no Victor 1 flights, no harbour scenics, etc. You reckon it can't happen? When you see Captains getting their gear off before going to the jet, when you see lighties flying uncontrolled/no talky amongst RPT jets, when you see a 6 yr old kid told he can't visit the pilot because he could be a little terrorist....... well, these days anything is possible.....

P.S. Here's a news article on the other day's stunt

The "Cessna 172" is reported to be on a trailer on it's way back to the Gold Coast accompanied by it's intrepid owner/driver.Seems it might have just been an ultralight "172". LewC.

This is the grammar police! Sir, step out of the car.

LewC, you said:

"... on it's way back to the Gold Coast accompanied by it's intrepid ..."

Next time try:

"... on its way back to the Gold Coast accompanied by its intrepid ..."

It's much nicer.

Dear Grammar Policeman Duknweev,

If you are going to drag the subject off topic again with what is obviously the most important thing in your life - perfect spelling & grammar - then I strongly suggest you get your own correct! How many "t"'s in "punc T uation"? Don't go editing your post now - it's too late!

I reckon you'd be the sort of bloke who'd reach for his jacket, hat and tie whilst evacuating a burning aircraft!

(groan) Back on subject if that's possible: here's a pic:

Thanks, Ushuaia; somebody would have to find a chink in my glass house. You're even more of a nitpicker than you think I am. I'll leave the spelling to luna landing, and concentrate on punctuation in the future. Happy?

From the Courier Mail:

"Ms XXXXXX obtained her commercial pilot licence in June 2001 through Griffith's School of Aviation and Arena Aviation. She was awarded Arena student of the year in 2001. As an instructor she worked at Redcliffe's Australian Air Flying School until February this year. Since then she has worked as a charter pilot for Mr Bellingham's aerial photography company. "

And she claims she didn't know she couldn't.....Yeah right. I hope CASA/Police/DPP throw the book at her. Gives us all a bad name.
