First turbine end??

Just wondering, from thoes in the know, what would be the best first turbine endorsment?? At what time did you do it?? And who provided it?? If you could do it again would you have done it differently??? Just curious....(at the moment).

I really cant give you a definitive answer, but assuming turbo prop, not jet??....

Ive spoken to a number of folks over the years and anyone who has flown a kingair loves it... the bandit guys loved their planes and so on... but if youre low on twin time, and or 200 kts plus time, then a caravan is a great way to start. The PT6 is a sweet engine, and the "van" flies like a big C206...

My favourite is the one the company pays for! Even then the metro I flew was the scariest dammed machine Ive been anywhere near. But it felt so good to the pits of your boots when you got it all under control and got it right.

My biggest problem was the plane leaving me at the airport while it did the flight, I was still 50 mile behind it... I caught up eventually though.

Inline with the previous post, everyone who's flown a KingAir loves them, they're just like a big Baron. On another note my first twin turbine was the metro, for me the transistion was easy, first right hand seat, then left. Aircraft speed really wasn't an issue and despite what you might think (a bigger aircraft) they're not all that heavy on the controls. Fortunately with most turbines they're a hell of a lot more forgiving than a piston engines; accordingly can be supplying max pwr one minute, idle the next.
Last I heard a company running metro's, does endorsements in brisbane, but be careful (depending what the chief is feeling like on the day will determine how proficient your endorsement will be.)

Cheers

i can speak from experience only from a metro point of view, its not really a pilots aircraft(a bit like flying a bus with wings and a bout as manoeverable.).however with regard to your first turbine its not a bad idea as there are many operators around who use them for freight and pax work.(just be careful about who does your endorsement you may get less than you pay for),alternatively if you have 2500 hrs total and at least 500 multi command keep trying at the well known companies that operate metro 2 crew ,although youll probabbly have to pay around 5000 for the training it will actually end up being a bond that you get back over the next year or so.(also you will better trained on the aircraft than if you just pay someone to endorse you with out offerring you a job.

with regard to the kingair ive never even been in one let alone flown it,however from those i know that have, apparently its a very nice aircraft to fly.

which ever way you go best of luck with it

cheers

note 1,

did my metro endorsemet at about 2800 total with about 1500 multi command, did about 300 hrs as an f/o and then command
