HappyDriver, for a start, stop worrying about stage four, because there is absolutely nothing you can do about it! They're probably only really looking for something to hold against your character that significantly adds (positively or negatively) to what came from the interview... like any job!

Does anyone have any idea (or heard rumours) on how many more pilots Qantas plans on recruiting this year/ early next year?
I know recruitment requirements are pretty volatile but any idea of their plans would be good.
Cheers
SW

PS. I'm fairly new to this forum and was wondering why the “QF mainline recruitment” thread was locked (just curious)?

Scarlet, I went through the interview last month and a captain stopped and chatted to me in the hall while I waited. He said that the rumour is that they will take 500 pilots over the next 3 years. Hope I'm one of them!!

So that I don't make unwanted phone calls and ruin my chances by p***ing off the employment section, does anyone know how long they(Q) are taking to acknowledge receipt of an application.

The 4 A330 sydney based started on the 2nd, but i believe there was a start date on the 3rd also. One would guess more on the 400.

Sounds like July/Aug/Sep are rumoured as well.

how many on hold?

I know of 4 people who are on hold awaiting a phone call for a start date. One has been in that boat for a year or so, and the other 3 have received letters advising they may progress after Aug / Sept.

I would like to know just how many people are waiting out there..

One year is nothing!
I started the process over 3 years ago and still waiting.
Done the reference checks, security ckeck, dental xrays etc over 1 year ago.
All of my sources say that it's just a matter of time till a start date but it still doesn't make it any better. Wish they would give us all some sort of info so we could move on with our life instead of waiting for the phone to ring !!

Does anyone know if the psych and skills stage ever expires? I have heard varying rumours that it is only valid for two years. It would be pretty harsh to expect someone on active consideration to have to repeat this stage if it was two years since they first passed it, but..............anything is possible!
