Major/Legacy/LCC Hiring
Frontier has just announced plans to hire with new hire classes in summer or fall of 2021.

Interesting that Frontier is doing this under present circumstances. Maybe just getting ahead of the game ?

It's a press release so almost like free advertising. Frontier just took 140 million in stimulus so while it's nice that they "plan" to hire and have just inked some sort of flying school tie up, until classes start again I wouldn't get too excited.

Spirit just announced in an internal company email that new hire classes will be held starting in March, 24 new hires per class.

This is encouraging news:
"United Airlines on Thursday told staff it will soon begin hiring hundreds of pilots — a process the airline was forced to halt when coronavirus pandemic devastated travel demand last year, according to an internal email reviewed by CNBC." "The Chicago-based airline is the first of the large U.S. carriers to announce it will resume pilot hiring, the latest sign it's preparing for a recovery." https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/news...ry/ar-BB1fdp6l |
I suppose this is related to legacy hiring at UAL via their Aviate Program. Not sure what it says about UAL's faith in future pilot supply from historic sources:

Too early to know where these hundreds of new hires will come from ? Flows from regionals with the usual small percentage of OTS ? |

Today, Delta announced they're starting hiring. Classes in June will be composed of those who had previous conditional job offers (CJO). Off-the-street(OTS) interviews will begin "later this year".
Update: Apparently, there are 75 people with CJOs who will be sent to class in June, July and August. Beyond that, OTSs will be entertained. |
News from Allegiant:
"Allegiant Air plans to hire 184 pilots in the coming months, a nearly 19 percent increase to the company’s current roster of approximately 1,000 pilots." https://worldairlinenews.com/2021/05...travel-demand/ |

This from Frontier Airlines. A new pathway for college students from college to Frontier. Not much detail but it appears to leave out the intermediate step of regional flying between CFI and the airline...or maybe I've overlooked something:
The careers page at Frontier specifies this: "500 hours jet/turbo-prop" https://www.flyfrontier.com/careers/pilot "Prior to employment with Frontier Airlines, program participants will also need to be employed by Embry-Riddle as a flight instructor and must obtain the R-ATP required experience." https://www.airlineapps.com/jobs/det...le-Pilot-Cadet https://news.flyfrontier.com/frontie...al-university/ |
Delta has changed its interview process to streamline it a bit, adding an initial online assessment(whatever THAT is), and doing away with the Job Knowledge Test(JKT). They don't mention the cognitive testing so I don't know if that's still part of the game. Scoll down about halfway to see the video by the new manager of pilot recruitment:

Guessing if Atlas gets any ERU r-ATP pilots they’ll be assigned the 737 doing domestic flying on Amazon and DHL scheduled flying and getting about 400 hours a year.

Delta still in the hunt. Another company in the pipeline system for Delta's Propel Program. The article says it's only gotten a dozen people to mainline. That doesn't seem like many:
"So far, more than a dozen Propel graduates have become Delta pilots." https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-n...athway-program |
Frontier Airlines forms a pipeline arrangement with a flight school. More details next month according to this article:

Spirit Airlines announces a new pilot pathway program. Not many details like how one gets from 500 to 1500 hours to move to Spirit:

This is entertaining. You can almost smell the desperation through your computer screen. But not to worry...seats will be filled and airplanes will be flown:

Interesting. I hope what I'm smelling here is desperation:
"Delta is expanding its recruitment strategy by offering jobs in the flight deck to full-time, active-duty U.S. military pilots up to two years before their retirement. These conditional job offers can also be extended to Active Guard Reserve pilots in what is a significant expansion from the previous timeline of six months before retirement. For all other military pilots, Delta will begin interview processes and extending conditional job offers to successful candidates one year before their availability date." https://news.delta.com/delta-changin...ilitary-pilots |

Stumbled across this data on US pilot hiring numbers by year and company. Goes back to 1990:

Is Frontier still hiring E3 visa pilots and/or sponsoring green cards?
