Thumbs up Faa private pilot foreign based and ifr traning in usa plz help me

[QUOTE]Hello,

i currently have a PPL foreign license from South Africa ( ICAO ) with Night rating. And i have already obtained an FAA PPL license based on Foreign license.

i would like to continue my training towards IFR and CPL in a flight school in TAMPA, USA.

Can i start my iFR training with an “ FAA PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE FORGEIN BASED” THEN I CAN ADD THAT RATING ON IT

or would i need to do any other type of conversion to start to get an stand alone FAA PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE FIRST SO I CAN ADD IFR RATING ON IT.
