Flight training in Denver - Weather...?
Hey folks,
I am planning to do my instrument rating this year (FAA) and don't wanna go to Florida for the umpteenth time. I have a friend in Denver and am thinking about going there. However, as I don't have unlimited time I do wanna fly (almost) everyday. How reliable/flyable is the weather in/around Denver in Summer (say, June through September)? Or what would be the best time to go there?
And, by the way, has anyone got any experience with McAir Aviation? That's the flight school I am thinking about going to...

I haven't heard about Mcair, which airport are they based at?
The weather in Denver is generally very good. Sunny and clear most of the time during the time frame you mentioned.
They do get some big thunderstorms in the summer and the wind can pick up but if youalways try to fly first thing in the morning then you will be fine. The air is smoother anyway.
The airpsace can be a little busy there since there are 3 airports in a small area, but good practise for you.

They're based at KBJC. Seem to have a pretty new fleet, many planes G1000 equipped. They're a self-examining school. I read some positive comments on them in other forums...
Besides summer thunderstorms and some heat, weather should not be an issue. Denver has something like 300 days of sunshine per year. Jeffco is a busy airport, though.

If you have been flying in Florida or near sea level most of the time, remember in Denver you will be starting at +5000' msl. Density altitude is a thing to think about.

If you go in the summer, phoenix is way too hot. Denver has beautiful summers. If you go in winter, come to phoenix. I have flown in both places. PM me if you wish

Go to Journeys. I flew and instructed there for some time back when. All good people. I chose them over McAir because I didn't feel like paying an arm and a leg for a brand new 172. Journeys is a lot more reasonable on pricing, and the time looks the same in the log book. Just my 2cents. The people at McAir are nice though, and if you've got the money to blow, go for it, nothin like learning in a new plane!
