"New" Delta Air Lines pilot routes

Is it possible to fly for example as a JFK based pilot from Delta from JFK to ATL and from there to Shanghai? I know that most US Airlines have a system where you can say what routes you want to fly, but is it also realistic to fly a delta plane to the destination you want?

By the way: How about shutteling within ths US with Delta?

For long international routes, you would only be able to fly out of the airport where you are based. You could only fly the ATL-Shanghai route if you were ATL based. That route would not be flown by a JFK crew

Domestic is a little different. I am not sure what you mean by "shuttleing" around the US.

A JFK pilot may be able to do a transcontinental flight (Ex. JFK-SFO) and have an overnight, then fly SFO-SLC, and then SLC-JFK.

However, If you are based at JFK for example, you will usually fly routes associated with JFK only.

I heard that in the US most airlines do have a system where you can tell the employer your personal desires where you want to make an overnight stop for example.

In this case I wanted to fly for example if this route would exist (!) JFK-TOK and then from the NWA (soon Delta) hub to other asian destinations like Shanghai or Hong Kong for example.

Isnīt there any possibility to fly as a JFK based crew member - for sure just sometimes - (international or even intercontinental) ATL routes?

I don't know if AA uses preferential bidding system or paper bids. Those using PBS can ask the computer to load up the schedule with overnights in a specific city.

speedy , you do know its free to call your cheif pilot right if you are with DL?
he is most likely the best one to answer all your questions about routes.

And yes you are allowed to bid flights. but not your entire schedule.

shutteling meaning? DH or ur talking about a free ride in the jumpseat?

God Speed.
