interview questions

hey all!

wondering if you guys could give me some help here. i have an interview coming up and am a little unsure how to answer some gouge questions. if anyone has some spare time and could help me id be very appreciative. well, here goes...

1)If you fly into a warm air mass with constant mach of .80, what happens to
TAS? ....i think it increases...but am not sure.

2)When do you need a second alternate under 121?

3)If you are flying towarsa a 4/5 thunderstorm and the Capatin doesn't initiate a turn, what do you do?

4)When do you require a destination alternate?... is this the 1-2-3 rule?

5) What makes you lose your temper? (is three are right and wrong answer to this one)

Hi,

121 2nd alternate: when tempo or prob at forcast is 50% of landing min or as they would say examption 3585 / marginal weather
121 alternate: 123 rule.. your right
Thunderstorm: make sure capt is not incapc. then make RT and get ATC involed for deviation.
anger question: questions like that.. Just kiddin... just be relax and tell them what really gets you off but make sure your political about it.

Well thats my 2cents, im sure youll get better answers.

By the way, which lucky airline is going to interview you?

many thanks flycaptain,

sometimes i read too much into questions...also you are intrupreting anothers prespective of what was said in an interview when reading the gouges. thanks for the thunderstorm/captain answer, that one in particular had me dumbfounded. interview is for comair. thanks again.

anyone else able to answer question 1 or a better way of responding to the other posted questions?

Hello!

Speed of sound is directly Proportional OAT if the temp goes up so does the speed of sound & Tas. Suppose one is climbing with constant Mach # means he is decreasing the Tas. Descending with constant Mach mean increase in Tas. I hope that help a bit. Formula to calculate Local Speed of sound is 661.47 Square root 273.15+OAt / 288.15

i understand that climbing at a constant mach means an decrease in TAS and a descent gives a increase. but if you fly through a warm airmass straight and level, like the question implies, does that then mean you will get an increase in TAS?

yes, think about when you do your density altitude calculations, the warmer it is the faster Tas you reach.
Try it on you flight computer.
