B1900 training
looking to complete a B1900 training (type rating or ATP + type rating) on my FAA licence ... FSI is quite expensive and I'm looking for a "less expensive" way ... any idea

I just visited TAB Airlines who run 1900s and a school and they seemed like a good operation. They are at Deland, Fl and have their own excellent operation. I did not ask about the price.

Jim, go to Flightinfo and type in a search for TAB. It will make for some fun reading.
For the life of me, I can't understand why people are willing to pay for their own type ratings. The point of paying for all your initial flying certificates is so you can get a job and have someone else pay for the type rating and to pay you a salary while doing so. I can live with a Bond or a training contract, but not with having to pay for my own rating.
A type rating with little or no time in type is pretty much useless anyway. Someone may bring up Southwest, but the answer is that Southwest does not require you to pay for a type rating, they merely require that you have one. True, a lot of people go buy one in hopes of getting a good job and that is their choice.
If all pilots would just refuse to pay for training after obtaining the ATP then we would all stand to benefit from the effect it would have on employers. They could no longer demand that you pay for your own training.

WHERE IS THE FLIGHTINFO? Is it in this PPRUNE forum and I have not seen it?
On TAB (not to defend them. I just drove through Deland/Daytona Beach area to check out a few friends), I know they refund your entire money if you stay with them and their airline for 4 years. It is better than some others and looks well run.
On paying for training, I personally agree with you,but it is hard to get started. Even looking for jobs in the world and the U.S., people want ratings, experience, and currency. A lot is who you know and a resume just sits on the bottom of some pile somewhere often.
There is a Aviation Fair in Miami in the middle of the month. I am told that there are plenty of jobs available and if you go to the fair, you'll likely get hired on the spot.
I think I can identify with a lot of low time people. When you pay for training for 300-500, you want somebody else to start paying, so you take your lumps in the low end of the aviation field. There appear to be plenty of jobs available in the US industry for about $20,000/year. It is right seat for an indefinite period of time.
Virtually every industry in America pays more than this. The person who answers the telephone at many businesses make more than this. Running a convenience store or working in a gas station can top this.
I think that is why people who want to fly go through these situations to work their way to the top. Once you get where somebody thinks it is the top, it is not near as impressive as you thought it was.

I did find that web site. Quite interesting.
Actually I may come UP to the job fair just to see what it is like. I talked to a number of people in the last few days and I tihkn it would be worthwhile.
How is this?

Haven't read all of the above, but what about 'Ameriflight' or 'flite' can't remember. They're based in Burbank California. Serious all weather flying experience and lots of it as far as I have heard. Good luck
