Viking

There seems to be a new MD80 operator based in Greece but looking at the Scandinavian market called Viking. Does anyone have any info on who they are and what their intentions are? Maybe this is a new opporutnity for new fo's? Are they recruiting pilots?

I guess that the airline you're looking for is Viking Airlines (http://www.vikingair.se/). But on the website, they states that they will be "operating charter flights on behalf of a number of Tour Operators to Austria, France and the United Kingdom.", not scandinavia, though they got an .se-domain.

They are indeed to fly from Greece. They have over taken the old Transjet contract with bases in HER and ATH.

Is that the only similarities with Transjet Airways or is TJ involved in this project as well?

Viking Airlines became operational on 09 May.

Operated first Flight 10 May ex HER with Unit 1.

Second Unit due next week.

Operating extensive charter program ex HER & ATH with 2 x MD83 161Y a/c.

Don't forget that with an EU registered A/C you can operate from/to anywhere in the Union

Look pretty professional outfit.

No, I sorry to say that I'm not. Out of nowhere there was an abundance of ex-SAS guys with many years on type. It's going to be intresting to see how they do...

Are you sure it's 82's? Last I heard it was supposed to be 83's.

That's right, both are -83's and were actually both flying since delivery with Aero Lloyd, then the last 5 years with Crossair and Swiss. The aircraft are owned by GE.

Any one know who is behind the operation?

Christian tadjiran ( idont know if i spelled it right ) is their director
of flight operations i think.
From what i have heard, they have not been very proffessional during their startup, with crew etc in mind.

Mega, which newly started company with little money and less time on their hands have the possibility to accomodate all the needs of pilots?
Sure it would be nice but it's better if they focus on getting off the ground at all so they can create jobs for someone at all.
