Job Search for an Aussie
Ok This is a post for a mate of mine (Bushranger76) who is having some log on issues.
He is a Australian Military Pilot, currently flying Huey Gunships, with 1500 hrs on Type, CIR, NVG Capt. He has lived in Norway for 12 months in 1995, and can speak the lingo.
He is looking for either Military work or Civil employment, however working visa's could be a problem.
What are the employment prospects for him? and how does he go about getting a visa?
Any advice would be great.
Cheers Bigdog on behalf of Bushranger76

The VISA issue is certainly a troublesome one...
Forget the military, since you have to go the full monty, and be a citizen of Norway. Most civvy companies require ASTAR and longline experience, and for offshore, 1000 hours, CAA-N ATPL Theory with Norwegian CPL/H or JAR equivalent. So it is a long way for sure...

Visa
bigdog1971
as a European citizen we all need a visa to just be able to visit
australia as a tourist, do not understand why you think you/your friend might get a work visa just because he has a pilots lisence,
stay where you are, we have enough of our own unemployment problems here in Europe, particular in the aviation buisiness.

Tibesti3415,
I think your unfriendly tone towards "bigdog1971", is totally uncalled for! I'm pretty sure that he's aware of the fact that there's a visa-requirement involved, regardles what direction one is going in (i.e Aussie-bound or Scandi-bound)!
I'm also pretty sure that he has a clue of the unemployment situation in our neck of the woods, as well as the fact that a pilots license doesn't equal an instant work-permit!
One more thing; I certainly hope that your not one of them boys/girls that have been in (for example) the USA to work as an instructor!! ...'cause in that case you've certainly earned a look like this !!!!
