Do remember that even if you work a 100% position, the company will roster you with so-called "PR-days," which are days off with no salary. Up to 15 a year will appear randomly on your roster during all months but the three peak summer months. Each of those days, you will be deducted 6.2% of your monthly salary, and they can give you up to three of those in a single month. So you effectively work 100% for 93% pay, and if they bunch three of them together it will mean about 20% less pay that month.
Variable rosters generally mean three out of four weekends every month at work. You can bid earlies/lates, specific stops etc, but that is mostly for the illusion of having some input in how you're rostered, in my experience it is mostly for show. Don't expect to be handed day trips if that is what you prefer, for example. Tons of examples of commuters getting day trips while the people living close to base get three or four nights away, even if they bid the opposite.

You'll be hired on short haul. Progression to long haul is based on seniority, so depends on the bidding of your colleagues ahead of you on the seniority list. The future of pure long haul flying is uncertain, the company is in the process of introducing mixed fleet flying - short/long haul combined.

From which flight schools does SAS employ new pilots? Is there some that are more preferred than the other Europe wide? I know that some companies have a preferrence or a precise school they employ pilots from.

Not entirely correct. I was assessed twice, back around 1997-98. Failed the first one, possibly because I was particularly enthusiastic, and passed the second one, about a year later. However, the story was always like you said, only one shot. Just want to share the fact, that there are exemptions.. Fact.
This time I don't have to do the online assessment and simulator.
But what I've understood is that they are in need of new pilots (spring 2025), and specially if you have a valid type rating on A320.

The expectations are very high on our next negotiation, but I wouldn’t rely on a great change from today. SAS has fallen behind on almost every airliner right now. But the general discussion onboard is that something needs to change, the current situation regarding salaries, work life balance and culture internally is not sustainable. A lot of people is looking for alternatives, and a lot of people is changing careers, even with 10+ years in the company.

use translate in your browser. And remember getting a room in central copenhagen in a shared apartment is minimum dkk5000 and an apartment will set you back from dkk13-15.000 and upwards in monthly rent.

Well, depends on type of course. If you wanna join as a CPT on the Embraer you’re more than welcome to apply asap. On the A320 you might be looking at 3-5 years in right seat, since it’s strictly by seniority. But, be aware that as a captain in SAS your salary is absolutely ridiculous. DEC can expect 6000€/month. Deduction for PR-days. 10% deduction for a “junior captain”. Be forced to work 83% for unforeseeable future. You do the math. Doesn’t get any worse than that and you quality of life is non-existent. SAS has become one of the worst employers in Europe and 99% of the applications are from low timers, desperate for their first jet gig. Fail rate during training is at an all time high but management are all unable to see that this will be a severe issue within a year or two. !!!! company, stay clear.

DEC A320 CPH
A new position has just been announced, DEC A320 CPH, in the posting they state:“Great benefits, including 42 days of vacation per year, and a maximum of 155 working days annually, with no PR-days”.
Does this mean that the PR days, is not used for this position and how would that be possible with current CLA, agreement?
