3000 applicants, yeah right! Emirates said they had 8000 applicants, but they still held roadshows...... Could very well be 3000 applications, thats not the same as 3000 applicants. And how many qualified ones that tick all their boxes, maybe 300-400.
Yes, its a GREAT place to be! Strong company financially, loads of new airframes coming, expanding, friendly people, friendly managment, good package-its most likely the best job out nowadays!
As for guys with language, rating and experience on type, keep pestering them and chances are you will get an interview.

Talked to head of recruitment in the crewroom recently and he said they had 4500 applications and over 500 with an internal recommendation.

So to get in as of today you definitely need a LOR. They have divided the applicants in 3 groups (based on age, experience) and hire from all groups to get a "balanced" pilot group.

But, the future is looking good. Lots of new hires needed and who knows what will happen when long haul starts

norwegian assesment

Hi Nick & BBJ King,

I should say don't give up and keep going in your norwegian process. Once again, everything you heared in this forum can be right or not! I don't know how many candidate where on the waiting list when I joined the company, but just to let you know: I had no experience on the 737 ( more or less 2500 hrs on corporates, falcon, learjet, gulfstream) and I had some basic knowledge on norwegian language.( foreigner) But I confirm, you need 1 or more internal references to go futher in the selection process.
I wish you all the best!!

I thought Norwegian was a proper company but it seem that they are only looking for contractors for Helsinki base.

Any thoughts about this company Arpi Aviation?

An announced Helsinki base is guaranteed to attract the interest of finnish pilots looking for greener pastures.
Most finnish pilots even close to the min.req. for applying are employed today and have been employed through the rough years as not many, if any, where fired when the brown stuff hit the props among the finnish operators.
Most are at least ATR if not Embraer170, Airbus, AVRO/MD/B717, 757 or biz-jet rated, many with thousands of hours but not typerated on the mighty 737.
Therefore not many willing to risk a selfsponsored hookership on a typerating for a contract only if it, as yoy say, goes belly up in Helsinki.
As such, I think many finnish (and other) pilots would be grateful for any info you have regarding contracting vs hiring on a permanent contract/ARPI etc. and in that light "OIGA"´s question might make more sence?
Thanks in advance, regards
A/M

The contracts for HEL base are not similar to what happened in CPH. HEL operation is planned as a stand alone operation totally separated from Norwegian in Norway,Sweden and Denmark. Meaning recruitment for permanent positions in the the mother company will still take place with no preference for HEL pilots to switch to permanent. HEL pilots will not be allowed in cockpit together with permanent pilots and no linetraining on the network in no/swe/dk network.

So this will be a completely different AOC then? I was under the impression that DY was trying to collaborate a bit with AH, not compete against them.

Dovregubben

How is the deal different in HEL base comparing to CPH?

Do you mean that HEL base contract (arpi A.) pilots will be bypassed by direct hire pilots to other Scandinavian bases on permanent DY contract?

To my understanding pilots can only have one year contract through Arpi aviation or Parc and then you have to switch to permanent contract with DY.

This would mean if you start as a contract (Arpi aviation/ Parc) FC.. you will have to accept FO position after one year to continue with the company if there is more senior FO`s willing to to take your FC position in your base.

Is it possible to join DY as a FO on permanent contract and fly out of HEL base?

Dovregubben; Finnair And of course I meant AY, not AH

The established cooperation with Finnair is a codeshare agreement only.

And no, for the time beeing there is no possibility for any permanent contract with Norwegian for HEL base.

Permanent contracts are regulated by the collective agreement between DY and NPF pilot union. HEL base are kept totally separated from the main operation.

Until an agreement are established for HEL base their will be no interactions whatsoever between these two pilot groups in Norwegian.

When CPH started, it was a quite different situation because the company entered into an agreement regulating CPH operations under the pilots agreement. Contract pilots was granted permanent contracts after their 6 month contract period according to a agreement with the pilot union. For HEL base no such agreement exists and will prevent any transfer from contract to permanent employment.

As everybody knows, Norwegian will recruit lots of pilots every month for permanent employment on no/swe/dk bases at the same time contract pilots in HEL will be kept isolated in the dark.
