Talking Type rating course??

I was thinking about getting yours opinion on getting a self sponsored type rating to a specific Airbus type. I'm not going to tell which type. I hope that doesn't matter when and if you have any comments on this tread.
In this type rating course the line training is included (200 hours). During that time you won't get any salaries, the company pays hotel and you get some money for food. The line training takes about 2-3 months. After that time you will get hired if the company is satisfied with you as a pilot.
The cost for this type rating course is about 45000$ = 32000 Euro = 297300 SEK

So my question is would you do it if you don't have a job today??

How many hours do you have?
The market seems to be pretty good now so i wouldn`t do it if I was you.
Just my opinion

You will get hired if the company is satisfied with you (). Why would they be satisfied with you. By keeping you they will lose a spot for a new selfsponsored, and for them free right hand seat flyer. Rotating selfsponsored pilots over a period of 200 hours, they gain exactly what they want, cheap first officers. Actually first officers that pay to operate revenue flights I have nothing against pilots buying their rating, but buying line training, that sucks.

Why not? If you are low hour and get well paid after the linetraining that could be a fast way in.

Answer to few questions

Hello again

Ok, to answer some of your questions than I have about
600 h total and of that 103 h on twin.
CPL and frozen ATP and MCC
CPL ME IR in USA

and plus that I've almost finished a BS degree in electrical engineering

So that is my experience
About the salary, it will be around 50000-60000 SEK p/month
Someone asked why will they be satisfied with me? I know that this company won't act like that, it is a good company or at least I trust them.

If you can afford it, go for it. Just make sure you do well! I know a couple of pilots who has gone thrue similar programs, who has been denied after the line training. (Sad stories involving big debts for nothing)..

Paying for your own linetraining is destroying an already destroyed business so why not

As said before companies do this to get cheap labour. to sell cheap tickets. End of story.
Think about your future interviews; having paid for linetraining is not a good "sign"....

If your destination is below planning minimums (read; buying a rating/job/training), then plan with 2 alternates (other operators where you could get a shot).

Salary 50-60K SEK after completed linetraining IF you get a job offer, correct? That`s a lot of money for a newhire F/O you know. Sounds like a castke made of sand to me. Remember; IF you get a joboffer AFTER 3 months without salary. Ask yourself; can I afford to go without a paycheck for 3 months (more likely 5 since you also have to actually do the TR course), and then find yourself out on the curb after linetraining? And for how long?

I wouldn`t do this. 600TT and starting salary of 50-60K SEK??? You get a bit weary of these kinds of deals after a few years. I know a few guys who have made this mistake and end up paying a fortune for their own PC/recurrent since they never got the job offer, but still need to keep the rating current in order to be competable in the job market.

Have you applied elsewhere?

Yup, do it, make EagleJet even richer.
In a few years I will look forward to your posts about rotten conditions for pilots, the very conditions you are now considering to worsen.

Don't be a sucker!

If pilots would just quit buying these type ratings we would obviously
all be better off. Let the companies pay, why should pilots subsidize
cheap travel?
Do engineers pay their employer to work for them?
In the US the regionals are having problems filling classes for RJ newhires
so pay will have to come up, no type rating mills making any money(except
737 for Southwest newhires who are required to have it before showing up for training)

50-60 000 SEK for a newhire with no experience!!??

Allow me to laugh...HA HA!!

You are going to end up getting SCREEEEWED!!! Put your self in management's shoes. I would tell anyone who wants to work for free that they will make that much money as well, AFTER you have worked for free for months, IF we like your performance.

Don't be an idiot, if a deal sounds too good to be true...it probably is.

Oh, by the way.

Your engineering degree means NOTHING out in the real aviation world. All that people care about then is flight hours and types flown.

Don't kid yourself.

StorLax,

Maybe it's time you tell us which company you are talking about.

My bet is on NovAir and you are going after the A330 type.

I have heard Novair is getting rid of the A330 and will only be using the A321 in the future

Storlax, here`s a tip; www.pilotjobsnetwork.com
So you can see what you can expect to receive with this company if it`s listed there. And BTW, if you don`t have this in writing then be very very very cautious A lot of good guys and gals have been scammed out into so-called deals and have ended up repaying their banks through many years. Bets bet; with 600TT try to get on with a turboprop operator, get some real flying experience and earn the next job. Shouldn`t take more than 18 months considering how things are looking nowadays

Type rating!!!

I'm still thinking about this type rating course, but I will decide it this week.
But I wonder about you guys who have a self sponsered type rating. What type rating do you have and how much did it cost?????
