Sterling type-rating

Hi Toffy.
I do not think that they will provide you with a contract before you do the rating.
They are having a lot of courses at the moment with people who have no garanties. But if you are doing ok on the course I think they will provide you with a contract for some months during the summerseason.
regards.

As far as I remember, aren't they the ones who provided certain candidates with a line training contract, so they got FO's almost for free for a certain period? Come to think of it, that's almost like Ryanair, except you also get a permanent contract after the linetraining..
My advice, stay clear of that sinking ship.

Hello Toffy,
No, it is not NOK 200.000,- is is more like approx. DKK 230.000,- plus 6 landings, plus whatever else they can come up with. Last year they tried to scam an extra DKK 20.000,- out of the guys who did the typerating, however the union is disputing the claim from the company.
Chances are that you may be offered a contract over summer, but no guarantees are made, in fact, they need a high turnover on the typerating courses, since it is part of their money making strategy. Therefore they need you out the door quickly to make room for the next guy who is willing to pay the aforementioned amount of money.
At least with Ryanair you have a job afterwards.

Thank you all for good answers.
I was hoping Sterling was more serious about their so-called vacancies though....I would have loved working for them, but DKr 230.000 with no garanties is to risky for me.
