Norwegian Aviation College

Greetings.

Just wondering, is the Norwegian Aviation College (NAC) over in Bardufoss still there? I e-mailed them twice in the last ten days (three different addresses from their contact page) but haven't had any signs of life come back from their side.

I would phone them if it weren't that my satellite phone's network is perpetually congested and VoIP is not working over my VSAT connection (or to put it in other words, atm I'm in the middle of nowhere).

I wrote to them asking if they were running any modular courses and renting planes. I should imagine that even if the answer is "no" on both counts, they would at least bother to send a reply, for the sake of public relations and all that

So, I would appreciate if anyone can confirm that they are indeed still operating. TIA.

Hei.
Dette fant jeg ut om NAC, Bardufoss:
http://www.hangar.no/articles/1152/1...sbudsjett.html
If you don't speak norwegian - in short - the flying school is bankrupt, at least for the time being. The politicians seem to be on the case, according to the article - time will show.
Lykke til

They have had a lot to worry about and I dont think that they have had any capacity to answer any mails regarding such a thing as You requested. Regarding the monetary question NAC has recieved about 500.000 euros yesterday to run the school the year out, until the university i Tromsø will run the game :-)

Thanks, I guess that would explain it

It'd probably be a good idea for them to post a notice on their website or set up an autoreply until they get themselves sorted out so people know what's going on.

Right, if anyone wants to recommend a modular school in Norway, your input is welcome.

Any news regarind the monitary support to NAC? I know several other Norwegian to's have filed complaints to this unfair and competition-hindering support.

Jaja!

I know. I've just read a press-release that Oradea University (http://www.oradeauniversity.com/overview.htm) has launched a EU complaint against the Norwegian "Utdannelsesdepartementet" because appearantly, the Norwegian Government is subsidising 4 universities in Norway (Tromsø, Bergen, Trondheim and Oslo) in their medical programs. APpearantly, the norwegian government is claming that students shouldn't have shoulder all the expenses of running a university medical program, and therefore is providing financial assistance to these schools.

The university of Oredea appearantly does not receive any economic subsidies from the norwegian government, resulting in unfair and competition-hindering support. The norwegian government has not responded yet, as they're awaiting the outcome of the complaints filed against the UiTø / NAC application for state financing.

Norway is not part of the EU (I know this is not news to any of you ). It is part of the EEA, but I'm not sure what the implications of that would be in the educational arena.

NICE ONE "CS" Maybe some folks are getting those eyes opened and realize there are new ways of doing things instead of clinging to the Rustenbust/Kirkevaag era!!!!

Hey

If you haven't reached them yet just keep on trying. I was in the last flightclass leaving them (FC0204), and I know for certain that there still is activity there. I believe half of my class is still flying in Bardufoss.
Try mailing: [email protected], this should bring you to Gustav Bøe or Henning Herholz, both professionals who I'm sure will try to answer you as quickly as possible.

mvh

Kristian, thanks for your post re. activity at NAC. I did receive a reply indeed, only a few days ago, but by then I had made arrangements with another school. This other school have been more responsive all along, willing to accomodate my hour building and, rather importantly, they haven't gone bust yet

Thanks for your interest though. I'm sure the information you have provided will also be of interest to any others looking for an ATPL outlet in Scandinavia.

LH2:

NAC is currently in business. Maybe only till year's end, as quoted by Griffin.

Read post on a Norwegian forum by a student starting his modular training there now.

Other modular training schools in Norway are Rörosfly and Agderfly.

Regards.
