RYR always find someone else to blame when they need to downsize. I remember this winter when "because of a strike at Boeing, we will not have enough airplanes, so we need to cancel a couple of thousand flights". In the end lots and lots of brandspanking new 738's stood on the ground, only because there were not enough crews to take them flying. All of them on the 900hr limit.
Anyway, a tax that will not cost the airline anything is hardly the reason for removing some lines if they are performing well. But it's a way to keep Nyköpings kommun and other cities in line and let them know that the money better keep on coming or they will be cut out. It's also a way of blaming the swedish government instead of saying that the lines are not good enough since RYR are always expanding and they can do no wrong...

Does Dudlin have a direct route to Skavsta? Cause as far as all of them Dubliners going to Stockholm they'd have to go with SAS if they wan't to go direct, and that will cost them a fortune, as I found out two years ago, with SAS, but the year before I traveled with FR via STN and I thought the service was great and much cheeper than SAS.

Dublin - Stockholm

No, unfortunately there is no Dublin to Skavsta service, and it is not likely to materialise in the near future with Ryanair's current Swedish strategy of freezing expansion there while this new aviation tax is looming...
There are three direct options when travelling between Dublin and Stockholm:
SAS, who you have mentioned, have recently completed an Aer Lingus style remodelling and you'll be surprised that they now offer some really competitive fares
FlyNordic, even if their fares are only displayed in Swedish Kronors, they are good value.
Lastly Sterling only operate during the summer. Good fares, and you can sometimes find some absolute bargains

New Skavsta routes?!
Ryanair have said in press statement today that they plan to launch Dublin to Skavsta from next February. I also heard a rumor that their new (as of yet unannounced) Bremen base will have a route to Skavsta.
This is a complete turnaround of their "getting out of Sweden" policy! Or has there been "positive" developments on the aviation tax front that I have missed?
However, I do believe that Ryanair plan to ground 2 of their Skavsta aircraft on Wednesdays between mid-January and the end of March to assist winter yields and loads, and to keep pilot hours at bay while they're at it...
Skavsta will be dead quiet on those Wednesdays
