pilot dude,
My location is the EU. How about yours? The Moon?
BTW, since Norway, Iceland and Switzerland are members of EFTA, working in the EU is straight forward. No work permit needed for citizens from these fab locations

The Moon is my favorite bar
Isn't it great that they let you work as a Norwegian in the EU
Why doesn't Norway give us the same right, I know we have the same rights but getting a job. Forget it.
the rather hire a fresh 200 hrs Norwegian speaking local than a 3500 hrs foreigner for te job.

many foreigners working in Norway, most from the EU including swedish and danish. no way a 200 hour norwegian gets the job before a EU member with 3500 hours on the type

After a letter from braathens about 2 years ago saying i had to speak norwegian I called personal department and asked how much. Basically I was told that they only hire foreigners if they cant find a qualified (meaning 200 hrs and a beating hart) Norwegian/scandinavian pilots
of course there are also swedes and danes working in norway since all three languages originate from danish anyway
PD
p.s. Its kind of sinical that my wifes (norwegian) familly resent me for not beeing able to get a job in Norway but at the same time if I ask them what they think about "orther" foreigners working in Norway they resent that idea.

Your insight into Scandinavian language history is not impressive.
As for foreigners working for Norwegian Airlines; what about my friend Michael for the UK, Danib from India, Kim from Denmark, Keith from Urugay and Maurice from France.
None of them was neither borne or married into the country. Stop whining. Go for the ball, not he player!

If what you say Pilotdude is true that Braathens took a 200 hour light aircraft norwegian before you with 3500 hours on the 737 i'm amazed. Worst I've ever heard.

pilot dude,
you are mixing up the laws that regulate foreigners access to work in a country with the mood of a local HR manager. I am sure BRA would have taken you on if you had some command of the Norwegian language. As they did with other non-Norwegian passport holders, as other airlines in other countries tend to do etc. etc.
I am pretty sure you would have as much chance to get a job in a French company without command of that language as a snowman would have a chance to survive in hell
