Interesting to see that suddenly the A-10 is an asset to be employed not exiled by the management of the USAF. The A-10 with a stack of M134 pods would be an effective VFR anti drone platform. The GAU-8 is the definition of overkill against a Shaheed..

I may be missing something as nobody else has mentioned this, so bear with me. I gather that the Shahed drones in the ME use GPS to navigate, not fibreoptic strands. Northern Europe has had severe problems of late with jamming and spoofing, allegedly from Russian antidrone sites. Is jamming and spoofing of use in this situation?

Maybe an all out invasion is the way to go. US,IDF and possibly Gulf Arab states. After the regime is removed a new Iranian military could be created. Regime loyalists could be hunted out. The Crown Prince could be the new Shah, either that or a democratic system with possibly the new Shah being just a figurehead. This would be a great gift to the Iranian people by removing the wicked regime from power. The only nation state threat in the region would be gone once and for all, replaced by a new partner nation and friend.

What's been amply demonstrated over the last 24 hours is that Iran is prepared to go all the way (even without a nuke) and lay waste to a sizeable portion of the Middle East's petrochemical infrastructure, if push comes to shove and their regime is truly in jeopardy. This could explain why they've held back with cruise missiles. |
Saudi Arabia doesn't exactly have an illustrious list of battle honours when it comes to conflict so I wouldn't be shaking in my boots if I were the Iranians - if the might of the US can't do the job...............

FARS just released a video claiming to show an F-35 being targeted by a (non MANPAD) SAM. CENTCOM have confirmed that an F-35 made an emergency landing at a US base and that the pilot is in a stable condition.
