Like Zeno and going halfway at each step, going 10% of the remaining distance at each step will never get you to that destination.

That belief is being tested.

And answered. It only seems that the WH does not like the answer they got.

Video

General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff:

We’re now flying further east and penetrating deeper into Iranian airspace to hunt and destroy one-way attack systems.

The A-10 Warthog is now engaged across the southern flank, targeting fast attack watercraft in the Strait of Hormuz.

In addition, AH-64 Apaches have joined the fight on the southern flank, continuing operations alongside allies—including missions to counter one-way attack drones.

Two B-1 missions reported as having left Fairfold this morning loaded with JDAM.

B-52 mission just spooling up loaded with JASSM-ER.

Tim Marshall's book 'The Power of Geography' explains why a land invasion of Iran is a complete non-starter

The hint is in the title.....

Interesting to see that suddenly the A-10 is an asset to be employed not exiled by the management of the USAF. The A-10 with a stack of M134 pods would be an effective VFR anti drone platform. The GAU-8 is the definition of overkill against a Shaheed..

A few points to ponder:
1. I don't think you appreciate the underwhelming capability of the various Gulf States' military organizations.
2. The IDF is kind of busy in Lebanon at the moment.
(Others have provided other reasons)
All in all: no.

From the sound of the brief from Gen Caine, they are pushing boundaries further into Iran daily

Once again the US calls on the cost effectiveness and proven efficiency of the A-10.

This war seems to be expanding. From the New York Times https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/19/w...adh-yanbu.html

Hours after eight ballistic missiles exploded over the Saudi capital, the kingdom’s foreign minister warned that his government had limited patience with Iran and reserved the right “to take military actions if deemed necessary.”

“We will not shy away from protecting our country and our economic resources,” the minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, said at a news conference early Thursday morning.

When asked what would prompt a military response, the prince declined to elaborate. “Do they have a day, two, a week?” the prince asked. “I’m not going to telegraph that.”

I may be missing something as nobody else has mentioned this, so bear with me. I gather that the Shahed drones in the ME use GPS to navigate, not fibreoptic strands. Northern Europe has had severe problems of late with jamming and spoofing, allegedly from Russian antidrone sites. Is jamming and spoofing of use in this situation?

This would be a great gift to the Iranian people by removing the wicked regime from power. The only nation state threat in the region would be gone once and for all, replaced by a new partner nation and friend.

Go large or go home, eh? Sorry to burst your little balloon of unrestrained optimism, but this is never going to happen. An air campaign it will remain until the powers that be decide enough is enough, most likely with the rump of the regime still in power in Iran.

What decision are they trying to force on Iran? To come back to the negotiating table? Agree to surrender their enriched Uranium? I don't either are likely now.

What's been amply demonstrated over the last 24 hours is that Iran is prepared to go all the way (even without a nuke) and lay waste to a sizeable portion of the Middle East's petrochemical infrastructure, if push comes to shove and their regime is truly in jeopardy. This could explain why they've held back with cruise missiles.

Saudi Arabia doesn't exactly have an illustrious list of battle honours when it comes to conflict so I wouldn't be shaking in my boots if I were the Iranians - if the might of the US can't do the job...............
