Derwentwater Flyby

Nutloose, that's brilliant, thank you from Canada! Am circulating the link asap.

Frustratingly, cannot post the picture mentioned below, but World Naval Ships Forum has a thread entirely devoted to the ship paintings of Jim Rae - who also paints aircraft.

So, please try this link:-

Jims Ship Paintings - Page 132 - World Naval Ships Forums

......he shows the partially completed water-colour and then, lower down, the finished article of the initial arrival at Coningsby.

Lancasters Pay Homage to Dambusters

2 Lancs, a Spit a Hurri and a Puma

I made the tortuous journey there and back through the multitude, cars were parked nose to tail literally miles back from the dams. I was in the forest on the hunt for a good viewing point well before flypast time when the Spitfire and Hurricane flew down the valley (I'd thought they were going to arrive with the Lancasters so I only glimpsed them flashing past through the trees!). Great to see the Lancs in such a setting though and nice to see the Puma ending the day with its own flyby down the valley. That would have made a nice picture from where I was but it took me by surprise, I only had time to wave back at the crewman, I couldn't help myself!

Nutloose,

Love the ground shadows at about 2.20!

Coffman Starter,

Apart from the aircraft, that pic shows what a dry summer its been.

Well I suppose it had to go home at some point:sad:

I still never got to chat with the guys as the fenceline was busy today, although not quite as crazy as the weekend of the first return from the 3 Lancs.

Dunc Mason when asked if they would come back said simply 'Never say Never'.

I saw her arrive, do the 3 practices PDAs then the formation with the Vulcan, return from the first East Kirkby bash. And finally the flypast over Waddington after revisiting the dams and finally watched her go today.

I have still got some pics to sort but will add some over the next few days.

Cheers and safe journey guys

Will BBMF ever plan a reciprocal visit?

NutLoose 1st Oct 2014 13:32

Good news. It's looking like they may end up in the black costs wise for bringing her over... $340,000 fuel bill

Fuel for Lancaster bomber's tour of U.K. rings in at $340,000

BTW in case you do not know, we may be getting a visit from a B29 soon too, FIFI may be coming over :ok:
