The Helicopter hovering over the HAS site when the CWH Lanc lands was one of Bensons finest with photogs on board I presume rescuing something from the plan to get air to airs (not that we have seen any yet).
Some of the local shops have quite well done (alas) photoshopped photos of them flying together.... I have an idea... even if someone else has had that already. Aerial footage while you still can V1 |
Just in case you may have missed it - Three AVROs together (with XM607 also around?)
Iconic AVRO line up! Not to be missed! |
Red 10 took a photographer up to meet them and there are a couple of photos on this link. Nice one over Wickenby.

Wensleydale - reminds me few years back waiting for the Gironde ferry at Royan. Car pulls up behind me and get chatting with driver. Explained I was going to a RAFA function and he asked if I had ever flown in an Avro aeroplane. "Once", I said" First flight, in an Anson. Why the question?" "Oh, nothing" he said, "just my grandfather was A V Roe." That was the centenary year and they had just flown the Triplane replica.

An update to the programme for Thursday at Waddington...
Further information about the iconic AVRO line up |
Some very nice photos of both Lancs together in the Daily Mail.
Flying and on the runway. Dambusters reunited: Two Second World War Lancaster bombers fly together for first time in 50 years | Mail Online |
Y-O-Y-O-Y do the press insist on mentioning the D-word every time they mention the Lancaster! It was one (very skilled and dangerous) mission of the thousands that were flown during the war. These 2 aircraft have (as far as I am aware) nothing to do with the Dambusters or 617 Sqn.
RANT Switch: Off I'll get my coat! Taxi!! |
Same lazy thinking that has the Battle of Britain won by officers flying Spitfires, and the cold war Bomber Command operating exclusively Vulcans.

It's good to hear that the crew of C-GVRA have been granted PDA this morning. Here are a few shots from some of yesterday's training flights. unfortunately I was in the wrong location to capture the extremely sporty pull-up from a low overshoot she did at the end of the second sortie, but it looked wonderful!

Usual quiet day again.
The odd Typhoon, three Tucanos dog fighting, Spitfire or two, couple of Lancasters again :) Must figure out how to post pictures online. |
Saw both the Lancs with the BBMF Spitfires today at Eastbourne, despite being of advancing years I have to admit I had a lump in my throat as they made their formation run-in, it was truelly an amazing sight.
Well done to all concerned, but especially the Canadians. :D |
|
The Lancs have just flown over Radar Towers, Sleaford. What a glorious sound- 8 Merlins!!!
|
Both around in Kent earlier this afternoon. A complete surprise to me and will not be forgotten. With the BBMF Hurricane and Spitfire I make that 10 Merlins?

The pilot of G for George ( name on the side) became a Qantas captain after the war. Met him a time or two.

Going back to the day before the PDA I have a picture from the last sortie of the day, however this thread only seems to think you want to add something from a bloody website
It don't seem to like uploading pics off my desktop.... V1 |
The best film I've seen and it's far better than the follow the leader they have been doing at shows, it's more how they operated....
:D:D:O:O http://youtu.be/lEc0bX91XUw |
Presumably Richard Paver (regular photog for Aeroplane) was taking the stills and James was doing the live footage...
Very nice Still can't get my sunset shot to upload.:ugh: V1 |
