Wouldn't it be nice to get him here on a jet with his name on it? I seem to remember some VC jets flying around :)

This is down to HMG. It has done the first thing required of it, i.e. to reverse its insulting and arbitrary refusal for WO Pun to come here. The next requirement is for a full and handsome apology for said refusal. The third requirement is to fly him and his carer here. Finally it must ensure that he gets the medical care that triggered his application in the first place. As I told Mr Byrne, I am not a hero and nor is he, WO Pun is and should be treated and celebrated as such by a grateful nation.

KTM-DOH-LHR in Business Class with Qatar airlines would be about GBP690 for one adult, one way.

But how much better for him to travel with the Ghurkas of today on a RAF flight... Particularly if the aircraft could be named after him.

Much better PR for a RAF sadly short in the PR department than 'Spirit of Adventure'...

Just curious, How long would it take a Queensl Flight ooopps!! 32 Squadron 146 to go get our hero and deliver him to a red carpet and honour guard??
Ideally with the Patron of his award association to greet him. Really show the civil servants "That which is correct and whom is in charge"
Be lucky

This marvellous old gent may need other support..

.... I'm due to receive £32 disability living allowance on Tuesday (it'd only go on Foster's anyway!)..... I'll chip that in if anyone will match me...
bless him.bm

Done! £32 War Pension to match. Any others?

Maple 01 8th Jun 2007 19:22

Ach well, it's only money £32 it is, where shall I send it?

Roland Pulfrew 8th Jun 2007 19:41

If its £32 you want, count me in. I would be more than happy to contribute and as pointed out so much more appropriate if it was a 101 Jet named after him.

Mind you if it was a 101 jet we might need something more than £32 per head!!!:} Aren't 101 still operating "in the vicinity"? Perhaps one could divert to Nepal and pick this gentleman up?:E

I'm in.... :ok:

Just say where.

Dan Reno 11th Jun 2007 13:18

I apologize for not having kept-up with this story but will this hero be getting the treatment in England he needs?

anotherthing 11th Jun 2007 13:56

There are a few pledges of £32 in the recent posts..... is there a fund set up where these pledges can go to reach the intended recipient? If so please supply details here... I will add my £32 to the others.

As a thought for the flight over, if it has not been sorted, how about an e mail to Richard Branson? He is always supportive of good causes and I think that he would jump at the chance to a) support a great cause by providing a much needed flight and b) gain some quality press coverage.

Any fellow diabetics on here.
I have e-mailed British Diabetic Association suggesting they make him an honorary member. Not a lot I know but every little helps.
Be lucky

I've emailed Kieran, one of the solicitors that's representing Mr Pun, about a fund to cover immediate expenses.

I know this was talked about throughout the 130+ pages on ARRSE http://www.arrse.co.uk/cpgn2/Forums/...c/start=0.html, but without decision I believe.

As soon as I get a reply I'll post it here.

Just recieved a text from Kieran ORourke, Mr Puns Solicitors.

'Mr Pun VC arrives at Heathrow terminal 3 1755 on July 4th courtesy of Mr Branson:ok:D: He will be accompanied by his wife and son. Seems like a good day to throw a sickie in:) See you there!!

Tigs,

Thanks for that, excellent news. I hope there will be a few people there to meet him.

Ivor
I will keep everyone posted, but we are trying to get a seperate exit/room for his arrival. we are now expecting a huge media bandwaggon and a fairly large crowd of uniformed/ex-uniformed people there. We are arranging a bash after Heathrow, where the press will be excluded and all PPRuNers and ARRSErs will be welocome to meet Mr Pun and to have a beer.:ok:

BEagle 20th Jun 2007 18:14

It takes a true Brit such as Sir RB to recognise Mr Pun VC's selfless heroism.

I haven't had a reply from Jeremy Clarkson yet; if I do I will let you all know.

I shall be out of the country on 4 Jul, but will raise a glass to this gallant old chap that evening.

Maple 01 20th Jun 2007 18:37
